The fastest way to gather new appearances

Hi, level-88 Blood Elf Pally here. Despite all the time I spent on this game, judging by my level, I am still a noob to manny people here. So, here is a noob question. What is the quickest way to get new weapons/armors with unnique appearances so I can transmog into wearing them? I’m sorry if this question makes you think I am “lazy”, or “not doing my research”. I’d have researched if I had more time to spare. I can only play for two hours these days because of college assignments… So instead of wasting more time trying in futile to get more appearances, I figured out I just have to ask everyone here because everyone is very knowledgable and are much better at WOW than me!
Thank you

run old world content, would be easier if you get to max level though. Most of the best stuff is in raids. also the same item will have a different color depending on the difficulty you run the raid in. you should really get to max level though.

you can target an item you want too. open the appearance tab and find an item you want. The appearance tab will also tell you where to get it.

Try to find some appearances you haven’t collected on the AH that are dirt cheap and buy it. Mostly look for ones that cost under 1 gold.

It’s like shopping at the thrift store sometimes.

OP, I can use one of my Horde to run you through a few raids appropriate to your level if you want to get a few more mog choices.

Hi friend,

First off, nice mog. Dig the icy blue theme.

Second, as others mentioned, old world content - ranging from dungeon drops to quest rewards has a plethora of stuff. Raid content will obviously give you the flashiest items, while quest and dungeon rewards generally lean toward more subtle looks.

There is a fair bit of content behind you that you can farm with ease, but there’s a lot above you as well. That said, at your level, Classic WoW, TBC and even Wrath content will be easy to farm and won’t take too much time away from your levelling.

Maybe it’s because I started in The Burning Crusade, but I am partial to it. I recommend starting there

Let me know if you have any more questions.

Thank you, everyone. It seems like getting to max level is the only way to open new mog choices. I will grind myself to 120 and come back to this thread later. Thanks for your kind responses.

You can run TBC content pretty easily by yourself, and Dreta can run you through Cataclysm content (the Paladin gear from Firelands, Bastion of Twilight, Throne of 4 Winds, as well as Dragon Soul is quite dope) if you take up their generous offer.

Look in the AH and hit the “uncollected” button or whatever it’s called, then sort by price. There will probably be 6-8 pieces under 10g, I’d start there unless you’re really starved on gold (like, say, this 88 is your highest character). You’ll make more money once you get into the 100’s, plus 90 is a break point for certain mogs, so it wouldn’t hurt to wait a bit until you’re leveled.

Otherwise if you’re just looking for transmog volume I’d say the low range of the AH is the fastest and I’ve been collecting that way on this character as I level. The mog I really want is from a cata raid though, so I’ll cap then go after that I guess.

Thank you Dreta. That is a very generous offer, but I figure out if I let you guide me through raids, I would have to give you a Blizzard gift card in return for your time and your kindness, but sadly I dont have any money right now (due to COVID 19). Maybe I will consider your offer when I have money again (in case I dont spend on beer or fast food or whatever). Then you can run me through the raid and I will give you a Blizzard 1 month subscription. That’s the best way because it’s fair. Does it sound good to you, Dreta?

Friendo, I don’t need your money. I have enough gold to pay your and my subs for the next twenty years. I’m more than happy to run you through a few rando raids to fill out your collection.

Level to 120, then go back and blast through all the older low-level raids solo.

Thank you Dreta. You are very kind, but I figure out the best way is that I will get to max level first and then I will let you know so we can run through level 120 raids together and have a good time, if you really insist. I will spend 3 hours a day instead of two so I can get to 120 as fast as possible. My server is Oceanic/Caelestrasz. I will see you when I am at level 120 with high ilvl gears. Thank you very much!

New players are so cute :3

Get a Warrior to 120, then do all the old raids. Why a Warrior you ask, they have access to the most possible weapons minus Warglaives and Wands.

A match made in heaven :raised_hands:

Ahh, they’re so adorable before IO and corruptos get to them, aren’t they?

With legacy loot which makes dungeons and raids from past expansions drop a lot more loot for a single person the easiest way is to outlevel the appearances you want and then go solo that content.

Hope you are enjoying the game!

Best way is to solo old raids and dungeons. For which of course you’d want to be a higher level. At max level with decent gear you can solo damn near any raid from previous expansions. And with middling gear, you can still solo most. At your current level you’ll be fine and dandy with vanilla content, and probably most BC and WLK content I think.

The good thing with running old content is it runs on legacy loot rules. So instead of the regular loot rule where every person in the dungeon just has a chance at getting a piece of loot, the bosses instead drop all the allocated number of items that would drop for a whole group. It doesn’t guarantee that all items that drop are usable by your character, but it does increase the odds greatly. And the gold you make.

Edit: I’ve now gone back and read through this thread and I see that most of these points were covered by others. Oh well.

Old dungeons and raids will help you gather the most the fasted. I would start with a tier set you like first and focus on that. It will snowball from there.
