Finally sat down and did some time trials running different classes through Stratholme to see which could do it the fastest, in AND out plus looting the minibosses. All have identical gear from the end of DF:
Outlaw rogue- 3:10. Beat the pants off everything by a mile.
BUT! That’s not the end of the story, because it was also by far the most involved. Busy busy busy tabbing and building and spending cp to keep Blade Flurry up and Blade Rush down and all the movement cds cycling. It was a workout, not a lazy thing to do on a second monitor.
WW monk- 3:30. Respectably fast and way easier.
Shaman- 3:30. Solid and easier still, but doesn’t have a spammable 360 AOE so it gets bumped to 3rd place. Meleeing minibosses in GW form and keeping its speed stacks is nice.
Feral druid- 3:40. Not an impressive speed but it’s definitely the easiest, cycle two speedboosts and hit Thrash if red nameplates are nearby.
BM hunter- 3:40. Ehh. Wouldn’t recommend. Put pets away to feign and drop combat reliably, but still didn’t do great. Stratholme is extra bad since there are so many mobs that must be killed to proceed so Trailblazer keeps getting canceled, trash buttpulls are too common to feign them every time. Barrage is great for the final courtyard, that’s still only ~15s saved though.
Destro lock- 3:50. Womp womp. Also has limited instant AOE and requires a bit of leech or it’s stopping to make healthstones every 3min. It’s still “fast” but a hassle.
Didn’t have a VDH to try, none of mine have mastery stacked enough to seem like a contender. I’m guessing they’d go between Outlaw & WW, both in speed and the work to backflip and pick targets to charge.
I think Mages because they can cut some paths through their portals. On the other hand, Demon Hunter is very agile and has a lot of dash, perfect for clearing or skipping trash.
With Fade to Nothing you’ve basically closed the gap on Hit and Run.
Shadow Strike and extra shadowstep range probably break even with grappling hook.
If you are forced to clear trash, Terrifying pace is fun times.
AoE is always available as a builder or finisher, no need to think about blade flurry.
I think hunters are much better in raids since aspect resets after each boss. Avoid trash, unless you want drops from them and wait until you’re right at your target before shooting to maintain trailblazer. Also, getting good at using disengage/post haste is super helpful too.
I don’t play sub, but outlaw’s built in CDR is huge. Reducing the cd on 3 movement abilities all at the same time was a big factor. Clearing the ziggurats was a pain, but still ended up being quick and those combo points contribute to speed.
Mages are has-beens, dragonriding ate their lunch and now anybody can get to their destination quickly from a dalaran hearth.
Warrior owns delves, but they do not have the speed to compete in old content. Other classes get their own version of Leap/Charge, better passive speed increases, plus even more movement abilities on top. War Machine doesn’t proc on low-level mobs either.
BM Hunter using the MM Artifact Weapon from Legion as transmog because it still gives a speed buff even as transmog in a lot of zones. Take the talent that makes you speedy after disengage and learn to use it properly…it’s definitely not the fastest but still quite speedy.
WW monk is my go to. When I was farming mythic antorus it was by far the easiest for the Eonar encounter. Lots of zoomies. Combined with simple, spammable aoe, you can’t go wrong
Oh.
Shows how much DH I play.
(though I did try vengeance later, and got 3:30 with admittedly poor Felblade use and a bunch of backflipping into door frames)
