It felt like they had too much going on. Too many ideas put into a class and just feels convoluted.
I think fundamentally the biggest problem with Evokers is twofold.
First is aesthetics. People like Elves and Humans. They’re less fond of races that are not these things. I think Blizzard did well with the visage form, but people like to look at their character in combat too. I think Drac’thyr as a standalone race will be pretty popular because they can stay in visage (and their racials are busted).
Second (and more importantly IMO) is that Blizzard weren’t bold enough with the design. Besides appealing to the “I WANNA BE ARTHAS OR ILLIDAN” crowd (which isn’t a small demographic TBH), DH’s and DK’s had the benefit of Blizzard not really giving a damn if they stepped on other classes toes if it meant executing the class fantasy well, with one of the most (in)famous examples being them dumpstering Demonology so they could justify it’s rework and give Metamorphosis to DH’s.
They didn’t really do this with Evoker and the design as a whole felt too “safe”. The best example is mobility, Blizzard were afraid that a highly mobile ranged DPS/Healer would be insanely dominant (it wouldn’t, Hunters and Druids already exist) so they gave Evoker a shorter range which feels INSANELY bad to actually play and still didn’t give them an overpowered kit to make that shorter range feel ok, so the actual play “feel” of an Evoker felt insanely bad compared to even less mobile ranged dps/healers.
I have seen nothing an Evoker could do that made me feel “gee, this would be busted if they had a 40 yard baseline range like literally every other range DPS”.
The one time they DID do something bold they did not read the room because if they had, they would have realized that Aug is an untenable spec design-wise, with a force multiplier being literally impossible to balance to a satisfactory level.
I think the Empowered Spells is a nice way to marry the feeling of being able to hardcast a BIG spell without it feeling completely awful when mechanics exist because you can essentially cancel it and still get value.
25 yards is absolutely terrible though, nothing Evoker does would be busted with a baseline 40 yards.
Agreed.
Having to charge can be frustrating at moments, but I don’t find that it takes away from the class.
I’m really enjoying the hero talents myself. I did not like the look of Scalecommander and wanted to play Flameshaper at first, but after swapping to the recommended builds, I find the triple disintegration beams and more frequent deep breaths incredibly satisfying.
Everyone’s tastes are different, but my enjoyment of the class is actually why I returned prematurely from multiple breaks during DF. I missed the gameplay too much while playing other MMOs.
Probably you’d like them more if you learned how to spell their name.
I love Dracthyr. I love Evokers. I am maining one two expansions in a row.
I do wish we had more visage forms, and I do wish we could wear more transmog in dragon form but over-all I like em.
Also strong leader only really works if you have a strong Leader. When Ion had more power we had BFA and Shadowlands. When the “democracy” happened we got DF/TWW which are superior in almost every way.
First off: why are you talking about yourself in third person.
Second: Only chumps get offended by furries and scallies.
I don’t care about anything you’re talking about. That was probably made evident by my comment you responded to but didn’t address.

Do you have stats for classes at level 80 in TWW?
Considering you said TLDR, you didn’t see my cite for it, but here you go.
Data for Azeroth → Classes
I can’t post the link because forum rules.
I’ve said it in another Evoker thread, I actually despise the visage forms and I also despise how limited their dragon forms are in terms of wearing gear, Also while i’m on the topic of gear. I wish I could determine individually I want my dragon form to not have my visage forms pauldrons on because it looks silly on the dragon form, Because they are so limited in what chest armor they can wear their pants etc.
The reason I despise the visage forms as they currently stand is and as someone who tends to play female characters is the human form I hate it like actually hate it lmao I’d much prefer it to be the female blood elf model just like the male. Either that or make the male one human to because having one being human and one be elf was and with all due respect a stupid choice, The real big brain idea would be to let us choose it but oh well.
I like elves, I like dragons.
But a permanent blend of the two? Hell nah.
Oh, you like ice cream, and hamburgers?
Here’s hamburger-flavored ice cream.

Yeah, still largely dumbfounded to them restricting visage forms to “one” race when they have hammered inn that dragons can glamour as whatever. And then the design of their visage feels strangely over designed while also having notably different style than other humans/belves.
Wouldn’t even have complained had their visages been whatever without any fancy doodads like horns or eyes, but no.

They do not have a strong, nostalgic connection like DKs and DHs do (origins in WC3, character representation via Arthas & Illidan)
The first Pandaren monk made his appearance already in the “WC3 - The Frozen Throne” addon. That was before WoW Vanilla had been even released.
When WoW BC was released and the first new races were added to WoW, people started asking Blizzard when Pandaren monks will be added. Monks really have a long history.

hat was before WoW Vanilla had been even released.
Or kung-fu panda! (2008)
If memory serves me correctly they kind of just handwaved the bit about dragons being able to choose whatever form as the Dracthyr aren’t as powerful as the big dragons, So they are limited in their choice of visage forms, Even still I will never forgive them for making the visage forms two different races models. I also still wish players could choose if they wanted their visage form to be a tauren or a goblin or w/e.
But then the issue occurs that… The dracthyr were designed before even helves and humans existed. So their visages should have at most been leaning more into trolls or nelves.
The question is why Blizzard took the effort to create new extra human forms for Drakthyr instead of just using the character models for Alliance or Horde already existing in the game.
All character models of the same faction should be feasible for Drakthyr visage.

Found ze german (or not).
And yeah, they overcomplicated the dracthyr selection. Race should have been visage while class evoker made you dracthyr.
idk I just it upsets me to this day lmao idk if upset is the proper word more like disappointment. I think its cool the breath attacks I like the ability to use soar instead of having to hop on a mount etc. I just can’t move past the shortcomings of the dragon models inability to wear all armor types. I can get over the no shoes bit because trolls/space goats and tauren don’t wear them.
I was going to RP as one a dracthyr that is but then I discovered how goofy it looked with my visage forms shoulder pads on but the chest armor plate of the dracthyr instead of my visage forms chest plate, So I just gave up on it lol, And if I hid the shoulders it would hide them for my visage form too which then in turn would make my visage form look silly.
At least with worgen the wolf form can wear the human forms armor minus the shoes.
corrected it
Evoker wouldn’t have been so bad had they not gimped them so badly. Seriously, who thought it was ok for a dragon, whose NPC counterparts could fly, needing a mount to fly? What was the point to that? A spell range 25% less than other classes? There had to be better ways to balance that class out.
Ya I noticed that when I was leveling my Evoker that I was having to get pretty close to stuff to cast my spells, Meanwhile on my warlock/mages I could be probably across the room if not from the next room lol.

As an Evoker player it’s mostly just that the class isn’t the most fun or flashy.
Yeah? It’s not the whole “ugliest race they’ve ever come up with” thing?
