The existence of "Domination" magic is silly?

Basically title, we’ve experienced death magic before but this is super death magic… in the next expansion can we expect super light and super fel magic that our characters need to be taught how to combat?

Basically stop doing this whole " X person teaches you how to resist Y magic"

It’s been on rinse repeat since BFA and corruption .

You can pass Shadowlands off as a bdsm focused fan fic novel with the names of some of this garbage. “Chains of Domination” dear god it’s so easy.

It is also funny to me cause this magic has control on Anduin but it took possibly weeks to work on a simple human…

The literal diety of death can’t just force his " domination magic" on a pretty average human.

Meanwhile his dad can be incinerated by some good ol fashion fel magic in seconds.

We might find more potent versions of each magic in due time, not only Death.

On repeat since 1 xpac ago? lol

Not so fast! Only one surprise OP threat per expansion. So Yrel and her zealots will wield the power of super light to destroy us and next expansion some new and exciting villain will have that super fel to do us in!

Does that make the Old Gods cosmic roombas?

I’m sure in the light expansion with Yrel and Turalyon we’ll get some excuse they’re heavily influenced by Faith magic or some nonsense like that and Yrel will teach us how to resist it

Yes.

It’s the same thing the Lich King used. It’s not new.

I honestly don’t really get it.

Sylvannas needed the sword and to hold it up to a bound Anduin’s chest in order to turn him… and even that was after torture.

But all of a sudden in 9.2, we can be turned at the drop of a hat? So we need Anduin’s help so it doesn’t happen.

If it was that easy why didn’t the Jailor just dominate us right there an then before walking through the portal? Is this part of his Bond villain evil plan? “I’m going to leave them alone and not actually witness them dying. I’m just going to assume it all went to plan. What?” - Dr. Evil

They’ll probably stick to Ds for the super magic.

So
Death-Domination magic
Light-Devout magic
Chaos- Delirious magic
Order- Dissatisfied magic
Void- Depression Magic
Life- Nihilism Magic

It isn’t… lorthermar, Jaina and multiple characters had no idea what type of magic Sylvanas was using on Saurfang but I guess it explains why she could fight Malfurion 1 for 1.

Yes, because it was bad writing. They tried to be secretive about Sylvanas’ power until they revealed it and most of those characters had never really seen much of the power the Lich King had. It’s typical Blizz feigning drama in a bad way. But this isn’t new magic. The Jailer is going to be using some of the same abilities the Lich King did.

And since when is it bad to learn how to combat different types of magic? What do you think mages do on a consistent basis while training?

But, nothing is more powerful than the magic of

Family.

You’re saying this but in the 9.2 reveal the main premise is us not understanding Domination Magic and getting Anduin to help us understand.

Domination magic isn’t classic old school death magic we’ve already seen

Domination magic is new magic.

You know I think I have all the shards, but silly RNG, not one slot. My other character has slots but none that match. What an abortion of a system, if it’s not going to give me anything I can notice I’ll just play like it doesn’t exist and like it.

Let’s try this one more time.

We’ve seen this type of magic before. It isn’t new. But we haven’t seen much of it and the characters you listed barely saw it, if they saw it at all. Most of them never fought the Lich King. Lore wise, neither did we. Jaina saw small bits of that magic, but not much. Mal wasn’t even around for it. None of them have studied it. Neither have we. It’s a form only used on Azeroth by the Lich King and almost no one spent time to learn about it. So of course we need to learn to combat it.

It’s silly, yes.

But we also watched Sylvanas 1 v 100+ the Lich King just with a small amount of this magic, so we already new it was daft.

It’s a recipe that works. But it’s a recipe for dull tasting slop. Fills you, but doesn’t leave you satisfied. It’s easy for Blizzard to churn out.

I’m pretty sure that lore-wise the Helm of Domination was supposed to allow for a power similar to Domination Magic, it was simply configured differently. To make an analogy, Zovaal has a “close range power stand” whereas the Lich King has a “long range remote control stand”.

I think that’s what made the Scourge different from regular Necromancers. Necromancers typically resurrect “empty” bodies, imposing their will upon lifeless husks, but the Helm of Domination allowed for the Lich King to impose his will on those who were “kind of alive”, like the Forsaken or Death Knights. Death Knights were definitely not acting of their free will but they were not empty husks whose meat was manipulated/animated - their minds/will was bent to serve the Lich King.

The difference here is that Zovaal’s Domination Magic is so strong he can dominate those who are alive and strong-willed.
