I get it that Blizzard wants to squeeze out as much relevance with world content for as long as possible. I don’t blame them given how much resources get poured into world design, but there is no good reason for [older content] mobs to actually get stronger as I progress. One week ago I was able to pull elite mobs in Nokhudon Hold and the Cobalt Assembly zone with no issue. In fact the size of the mob I could pull was limited by me not going to far from their spawn site. This week, I’m having to surgically taunt pull the same mobs, or I’ll get wrecked.
This is not fun, it makes the game discouraging, and it feels like you’re taking the player for granted. At the very least, we should feel marginal stronger with new gear. But we should never actually feel weaker after upgrading gear.

They buffed mobs damage and and player healing in 10.1

I still die at the same rate of % max HP per second. The only difference is I now have 470k hp instead of 360k. I know that math doesn’t quite add up. I’m wearing 4 crafted items that went up a bit in item level with the patch.
Or maybe they finally realized that most players want a little bit of danger in the world where they aren’t steamrolling everything in sight? I know it sucks to think that players might be at fault and not big bad Blizzard though.

You say that…in literally the same sentence that you describe a good reason for them to do it. But don’t worry, I’m sure all those elite mobs in areas that are supposed to be challenging will be completely faceroll by the end of this tier as well.

Was rather glad it was mostly my wrath guard getting hit during the quest line there.
Those jerks hit hard lol
Yeah, at the cost of screwing over classes that aren’t tanky nor can heal.
This is Blizzard kicking in the teeth of Mages

Oof from what i read here blizz didn’t take into consideration for all classes. Some are handling things fine and others are just getting steamrolled. But this is what happens when they use the wide area levers to “balance” things.

Doesn’t mean it’s right.
Those mobs that drop 4 totems that make them immune to damage take 4-5 minutes to kill because of how ridiculous the amount of health the totems have is, and how fast they can re-cast the totems.
They need to significantly re-tune the Zaralek Caverns mob health.
I am in 411 Gear, the maximum gear that Zaralek Caverns rewards, and I am struggling to solo stuff.
If they’re tuning Zaralek Caverns for Heroic Raid Gear, they need to up the rewards for Zaralek Caverns.
Those things hit my Hunter Pet for 12-18% of their health per hit, because for some reason, my pet didn’t get the health boost that players did.

Agreed, if they are tuning this zone with heroic gear in mind then the zone should be rewarding that level of gear.
Needing to raid on Heroic in order to do open world stuff is bonkers.

It’s nowhere near tuned for heroic gear.
Then what’s the point of gearing up if the same enemies you fought at the begining of the expansion are just as hard or harder after you’re geared? This games carrot on the stick is getting better gear and seeing the difference it makes as you increase in power.

The difficulty I’m having in 411 gear (which, again, is the maximum gear you can obtain currently in the openworld Zaralek Caverns) says otherwise.

You get better gear to do more challenging content, not to go back to open world and stomp on everything.
Because it’s tuned around what open world will max out in 10.1, which isn’t 411. Its at least 424, probably higher – you can get loot off Echo/Salk in LFR all the way to 437.
Come back when you’re 425+ and tell me how Zaralek Cavern is still stomping you.
You can get better gear for both reasons. It’s ridiculous to argue that the only reason a person would want to get better is to do current content. Players also want to feel that impact their new gear has on content that was previously challenging.
And lastly to turn your arguement around on the point you made, there’s actually no need to go back and buff old content that was previously challening either, since it’s old content now.

I wondered why my DK’s ghoul was getting wrecked. Haven’t noticed the scaling much in open world (both my toons are 418). M+ though, I definately noticed the mob healthpool increase on the first pull in a 19 SMBG.

Yeah… I’m using a Clefthoof but need constant mend pet on or they drop so fast. Can only imagine how bad it is for other pets, considering how ridiculous the Clefthoof is.

Yeah… I didn’t think it would be this bad. My Mage is getting murdered out there now and my Warlock has to constantly stop DPS to heal the Voidwalker.
Blizzard didn’t think this through at all.

If you are having difficulties doing world content then this is a learn to play issue. World content is the easiest content the game offers.
