Rogue is actually one of the classes/roles in RBGs that requires a good level of personal skill. If they are struggling in low rated 2v2 that much then I don’t think they are going to be able to do a rogue’s job in RBGs. That is speculation, however.
This thread highlights a lot of things. High rated PVPers seem to be mixed on whether or not they like competitive PVP or are enjoying their "entitled’ gear based stomping.
Then we also have a lot of posters on here who seem to be proving that their gear isn’t helping their progression based on how poorly they are doing or lack of progress, etc. (Well, it’s possible, they could also just suck. LOL)
And then there’s the crew that simply likes fun PVP, to be engaging, to be able to outplay a guy who does rated, even though you didn’t do rated, even though he has “somewhat” of a gear edge due his being a “better” player. (Second LOL)
It just seems weird to see rated requirements on gear that would help some of those rabid, toxic posters who seem to be arguing against their own situation
(well maybe, maybe not)
With all the renown requirements, covernant line, Torghast, legendary drops only from raids, I don’t even see myself playing an alt at this rate. It’s kind of sad as I do like trying other classes from time to time.
Hardest thing is probably Soul Ash and gearing though honestly you can get “decent” pretty fast through your covenant campaign and simply having your alt farm honor before you ding 60. Renown goes up fast.
The issue is once you get around 200 ilevel you can do PVE for some gear to compete in PVP or you can do rated and generally get stomped even in low ratings or as Oozo mentioned , RBGS.
The other option is to pick a class where you can excel and do decently against classes even if you are significantly outgeared
For me it’s not a case of it being difficult, I just have zero interest in it. I leveled/boosted quite a few toons at the end of BFA to pick a main for Shadowlands. Only a few of them will even make it out of the start of the maw. It’s just not fun or entertaining for me.
Lets be real here. If you aren’t at least 1800, your pvp gear is pretty garbo.
That’s not entirely true. If you are experienced and playing with good people, you can easily do well as long as you choose spec/class/comp wisely.
It’s not just all gear, just can be mostly limiting…
I think the major cause of complaint is not that high end pvp yields the best gear, it is just that the discrepancy between top end conq or raid gear vs top end casual honor gear is higher then it has ever been or at least feels that way due to the bursty meta.
Keep in mind that alot of players maybe only have 2 hours or less to dedicate to the game and alot of those like to just que random BG’s to have some fun and if the gear level is so wide it just makes them stop.
Yes but our friends with no life commitments don’t understand that. One day it will come to pass. Maybe they are right though, MMO’s are maybe not the genre to be playing when there is so little time.
You don’t even have any ranked rating. What gives you the authority to make that claim? In other words: How would you know?
/cry /10char
Yes, its crazy now. Are people actually happy about the way it is now?
None of my characters are over ilvl 184. Is this supposed to promote PvP somehow?
People said “just join a YOLO rated BG and you can gear up too”…OK, well I tried that. I got rejected from all of them due to my ilvl being so low.
Are people actually happy about a bunch of people joining their team 20-40 ilvls lower?
pvp gear goes up to 197, so with a legendary you’d be item lv 200, then you can earn conquest through battlegrounds etc so…
that’s a you problem for not upping you gear from item lvl 184.
Oh oh, one of those guys that doesn’t pay attention to the actual post, but researches the arena rating to “discredit” the person.
You made a nonsense statement considering anyone can watch a stream from a popular youtuber (a few) and see them playing in “whatever” brackets and the gear isn’t always great and got called out on it. I also have guildees/friends that do fine without the “best” gear as you claimed as they are experienced and know their specs/classes; whatever.
There is no authority to discrediting nonsense; it was simple to refute a post that was devoid of common sense and then back it up with some basic examples that even "scrubs that don’t play rated’ can debunk.
Anyway take care and if I choose to queue up and do some arena, hopefully then you will make me feel better by actually reading the posts before getting triggered and simply trying to undermine the poster ![]()
You’re correct. I got into a Glad alt RBG group earlier tonight. We had several people well under 30k HP (me being one of them, two warriors with 22k that I recall, etc.), and one of the healers even accidently queued DPS so we were 2 healing an EoTS. The enemy team was all 1500-1600 players, all of them around 33-35k HP, some higher, and we destroyed them. A game or two after that one of the DPS didn’t queue into a WSG, we won 9 vs 10 (once again with under geared alts) 3 flags to zero.
The only losses I had tonight were with better geared yolo teams who weren’t alting. So yeah, if that guy is telling you you can’t win out geared, he’s wrong in some cases. Lol
At least you didn’t decide that my post was invalid since I don’t do rated; it’s out of choice / personal preference not because I don’t pay attention or understand how PVP works. LOL. Oh well.
And definitely there’s a mix between gearing and knowing your stuff to just about all forms of PVP. The gear just has a big impact so far this expansion. I personally prefer to be somewhat outgeared in 1v1s or whatever as it feels great to win “against the odds”
Oh if gear didn’t have any deciding factor I wouldn’t have regretfully healed 3 or 4 M0’s to hurry up and hit 180 to start doing RBGs tonight. Lol
I don’t see the point in looking up someone’s rating unless they make mention of it, personally. 4 hours ago this toon had 0 CR, 2 months ago(or whenever SL started) I never did rated PVP at all. During BFA I was a 3k IO M+ player, and since this is an account I started the last 2 weeks of BFA, M+ players would tell me I don’t know what I’m talking about. So you can’t always go by achievements anyway.
I feel like the biggest problem right now is the entrance barrier…once again. In order to even really compete in arena you need to get your honor gear to at least rank 5 which is a tremendous grind. And this doesn’t even take into account all the other stuff: Legendaries which include Torghast-runs and the renown to even be able to upgrade your gear.
I looked up your rating after reading your absurdly ignorant post.
I guess common sense isn’t your thing LOL.
What’s sad is regarding the gear I generally agree with you, though to say that everyone not 1800 has 'bad gear" seems to be the epidemy of ignorant
And if I wanted to play rated, I am sure I would be better than you
(Oops, perhaps this one is also ignorant lol)
