"The Embrace" is on a new cycle

You might first be asking “But caeci, what is The Embrace?”… I am glad you asked!

The Embrace is an event that (historically) happened every 430 years. It is when The White Lady (large moon) and The Blue Child (small moon) are perfectly aligned. Many religions/beliefs/cultures give specific meaning to such events in actual history.

Syzygies from Astronomy:

an alignment of three celestial objects, as the sun, the earth, and either the moon or a planet.

According to Lore, The Embrace happened the night that the Aspects were created. It was also present when Kalecgos was made the Blue Aspect, replacing the deceased Malygos. Thrall, who was made (temporarily) earthwarder was NOT given aspect power… and there was no Embrace. While it is not explicitly stated, it is heavily implied that this event is important or required for the channeling of titan magic to the extent that it can be manifested in mortal beings.

Why does this matter right now you may ask? Simple. It has been hinted for a few years that the Aspects will return. Based on our understanding of Titan Magic and the assumed correlation of The Embrace and Creation. It would have been another 425 (estimated) years before the next Embrace. We wouldn’t be alive to see it.

That is, until Legion.

For those unfamiliar, there is a scientific reference called Heisenberg’s Uncertainty Principle. The Laymen definition is that when you observe or interact with something, you will inevitably change it, and thus you cannot view it’s original state multiple times. By using a variant of this idea, I have determined that when Sargeras materialized and stabbed Azeroth… He did more than just impale the Planet, harm the Nascent World Soul, he also altered the position and rotation of Azeroth, The White Lady, and The Blue Child.

Based on this idea, I would speculate that the next Embrace will be MUCH sooner. Perhaps as soon as Next Expack. I am working on more of-and-for this.

Let me know what you think. Do you have anything to add or critique?

I’m mostly curious if you have any source for the idea that Sargeras’ stabby stab brought the next Embrace any closer, or if it’s just pure speculation? Really neat idea either way!

You could also just speculate that they’ll be doing more Aspect or at least draconic based content from the Wyrmrest Accord reunion (kinda) in 8.2.

I don’t understand why you invoked quantum mechanics to explain the concept of “he knocked the things around with his big sword.”

imagine a standard kitchen sink. Now fill it with water. inside the sink, place a softball, a tennis ball, and a ping-pong ball. Now pretend that the water moves in a predictable path (basically, a normal planetary cycle/rotation).

Now drop a bowling bowl in the sink.

The difference in mass and the proximity to of Sargeras to the planet would easily be sufficient to alter the adjoining planetary masses (Azeroth and the 2 moons). Gravity may be sufficient to return them to a stable orbit or prevent an actual unstable orbit… but it would very easily cause a long-term alteration to the previous cycle.

I wish I had a simpler way to explain this.

Because it was simply him stabbing the planet. It was his mere presence, because of his size and mass compared to basically everything around him.

There was an episode of a show called Red Dwarf where they used lasers to play pool with moons in order to close a hole in space.

That’s kind’ve the vibe I’m getting from the sword explanation in layman’s terms, although I’m unsure if Sargeras actually knocked anything off course. If he had, I feel like the astrological consequences would be greater.

Great. Now you’ve got me thinking about the gravitational force exerted by Sargeras’s er…Twisting Nethers.

Like, do you think they have debris in orbit around them? Do they orbit each other? Have they in fact collided and, in the ensuing heat and pressure, formed into one planetoid? Given enough time and the accumulation of sufficient matter, will Sargeras’ hips ignite into a newborn star?

Are you referring to what I think you are? lol

Relax, some crazy a** plot device will show up if the writers remember that the Aspects still exists and apply the Rule of Cool on them

Interesting. It would be nice to see that in game. Especially for rp use.
