The economy in this game

the economy in this game is a disaster and i have been at my wits end on trying to make it work for me and have long since given up im a well informed player and understand that it’s always changing but this is beyond that.

nothing really at this stage has any true value because things are only worth what you can get out of them and we on one hand have some of the older items that no one really wants stuff like battered hilt and on the other hand the new items wicth lose there valu almost immediately a lot of the issue is bots and h campers and add the wow token on top of that as well as the shift to the trading post and the mess that has become the crafting board

there’s really nothing left for old school mmo players like me

what was it like back in the old days?

was a lot of fun and felt like a world and your time and knowledge matters and the only thing stopping you to reaching your goal and separating you from the pack was the willingnus to go out and get it done do the gathering do the crafting or farm it up get the recipes make the discoveries all of that

You might be able to sell it on wrath classic lol oh and the frozen orbs they sell too

I can still do that now… /shrug

You mean kinda like real life?

Over time, the value of items change. Your collectable card game isn’t so collectable any more - with a few exceptions. People don’t want stuff for the sake of having stuff so much - not least of all because there’s no place to put it. The only real market is in hard to get transmogs, and annoying to get early-expansion mats; the prices charged for Cobalt Ore, Saronite and especially Khorium on my server is annoying to ridiculous.

Bam. You’re absolutely correct. Welcome to the real world.

The economy isn’t broken. If anything, it’s finally fixed.

It seems the only way to make money is to be aware of an item that makes a new appearance.

Probably something rare to get or to make and suddenly it’s the new BiS thing to assist in crafting or supporting.

It’s like the real world and being ready for whatever that item is. It could be odd stuff like mage tower Legion gear.

But I don’t play AH simulator. By the time I show up, market is saturated with thousands of said item so that I can neither buy and resell nor make money finding the item as the value is low demand high supply.

Plus, I don’t PTR to guess what the next best item will be.

I do all that now. What’s the problem here?

As soon as real money was brought into it, WoWtoken, and they got rid of the GMs and other folks keeping the bots at bay, WoW started to decline.

Probably been that way since Wrath, tbh.

I feel bad for anyone that has only played after all that, they missed WoW at it’s peak.

Just chasing nostalgia now, but people have figured out WoW too much, it’ll never go back to what it was, never.

Best thing is to hope for a new MMO that’ll create that same feeling, of the unknown.

This late in the season margins get real thin. Save up mats for the next season.

I seem to just make gold without really trying, after a day or two of play, i always seem to have a bunch of high level greens/blues that sell well, a random assortment of ores, fish and other crap, plus a bunch of free chanting mats that i get when i fill out crafting orders for crests. I seem to make 20-30k a week without actually trying to make gold :woman_shrugging:

Actually, come to think of it, a decent chunk probably comes from old content mount runs where I’m vendoring dozens of pieces of gear every run.

I made 20,000 in 90 minutes in Legion the other day. Just mining and herbing, and trading in blood of sargeras. Spent 15 minutes in each zone.

There’s gold out there to get.

wow, what did you do ? i am trying to farm gold for the next exp and that would be helpful

Just ignore the auction house and the game becomes a great deal more fun.

So you want ingame to act as the real world than why not have a Wall Street added ingame as well.

they absolutely decimated professions
I think we’re just supposed to buy tokens for gold now.

Bought a lot of leystone with blood of sargeras

I played wod that’s when I ignored the ah forever. Anything you do have to buy from there you can just make the gold back playing the game. Look at it this way if bots wasn’t here the ah would just be full of people seriously overcharging.

Well, for one, a crafter could make much more money because back then not everything of value automatically got slapped with a BoP tag. You just dumped them on the AH and sold it for what the market would bring.

It’s the reason I left retail and played on a very busy active RPPVP server “Grobbulus” and really enjoyed it until it was eventually over run with GDKP trolls and also the exodus of players to SOD which I can’t stand.
