The Eastern Kingdoms need a reality check

In the WOWverse any kingdom and region was vulnerable, the legion and the scourge were so powerful that they had to go to Kalimdor to Band together for survival. Wow in its current state makes the original zones untouchable. Would like to see the old zones in danger again.

Maybe next expac we can go back to defending old zones… and not the way that legion assaults worked either.

I would … prefer we simply reinvigorate these old zones into something more reflective of Vanilla (in that we are allowed to explore and get to know them again). There doesn’t need to be some end of the world crisis all the time, and maybe it is time for Blizz to finally start rebuilding what they’ve been slowly tearing apart since Cata. Get through with BfA, then perhaps whatever Old God expansion … then lets chill the hell out and rebuild for a while till the next big bad.

Exactly there isnt any need to rush into a big baddie fight, i really want to revisit ashenvale or western plague lands in a new sense of adventure. It can be done… just feeling like new islands and new continents are missing the spirit of wow.

Agreed. There is so much that Blizz could do with just the world they’ve already built, if they bothered putting a little work in. If the prospect of reinvigorating entire continents is problematic … then simply take a small page of out ESO’s book and slowly release these redone zones over the course of the expansion (don’t tackle the whole world at once). You can then continue that trend.

That would make sense rather than just suddenly discovering some new island every other patch to maybe find something useful in the existing known world.

they dont really even need to do all the zones… just the core zones that were most iconic on EK and Kalimdor. Such as The barrens, ashenvale, dun morogh, and etc. The old zones could use some love.

Resto druid reporting for duty!

We just need to clean up the Nightmare in Valsharah and then we can move onto cleansing the rest of Azeroth!

One of the thing i hate most in a story is meandering. Pay for a filler expansion? No thanks. At least with vanilla you had the promise of arthas. Illidan as a bad guy came as a surprise.

Arthas was the pinnacle bad guy, we need something on that level again. or just need the vanilla experience of being an explorer in the world, just another guy per say.

I came into wow hoping to see the world arthas left behind. Hes dead now.

Definitely feeling some island fatigue at this point, no question.

Would love this. We really need a “reverse Cataclysm” expansion that takes EK+Kalimdor and restores+rebuilds them, modernizing them in the process.

Same… Deathwing was the most forced villain, next to Garrosh and so on… the legion was a worthy villain… but not in a domino sequence. Even with N’zoth released… wow needs a breather from baddies…

My void elf is lvl 50, so he can’t fly. I’ve been working on EK loremaster while levelling him. I don’t mind questing without flight in those zones because they’ve been fairly easy to traverse and the mob density feels about right (which is much lower mob density than current zones). I don’t get dazed. Those things are what made a huge difference for me.

Not being high enough level to learn expert riding also makes a huge difference in me being ok with levelling in EK without flight below level 60.

Player density feels about right too - much lower than I see in Legion content these days - where I do see other players around (maybe sharing a quest area with 3 other players) but we can quest next to each other without killing each other’s quest mobs.

The reason I mention that is because I’m concerned that those zones could be ruined if the devs re-make them with their current design philosophy.

I don’t enjoy their current philosophy of more cramped and vertical terrain (Highmountain is one of the worst) with only one way up the incline to the quest mob with too many mobs that daze between me and my destination.

Totally agree, but the way it could possibly be done is kind of a phased zone, where what exists now is what lower levels will be playing in, and at max level or the level at said expac will be a good overhaul of the doodads, mobs, and maybe some feature improvements in the landscape, but i doubt they could shape it as badly as highmountain.

That’s true that it would be hard for them to make the vanilla zones as badly shaped as highmountain.

If there is a revamp then I hope there’s a Zidormi that can change it back and keep it changed back with the lvl 60 and below mobs at the correct mob density as it stands right now in the Hinterlands, Western Plaguelands, and probably the rest of the vanilla zones.

Ideally I’d like them to lower mob density and lower CRZ in all new zones moving forward; I recognize the chances of that are low, but I wanted to get the thought out there after seeing that they have built the zones really well in the past instead of focusing on near-current content (WoD and Legion) where it can be frustrating and/or tedious to navigate when you can’t fly.

I would be afraid that the update they do to these zones would probably just be putting WQs in them.
