Blizz has to do 2 types of servers.
one server only death=delete for the normies of which most just want to play a fresh server anyways.
and one true HC server with the addon rules for the real HardCore players.
And one server with no disconnects or falling from flight paths for the real real HardCore players.
Not sure why the only rule shouldn’t be death = delete. If some people would like to narrow the ruleset I believe an addon exists that would allow this.
there are currently servers where people play like that. the hype around HC is bc of those people. its actually the reason why we get official HC servers in the first place. the blizzard announcement for official HC was even made on a event of said HC addon community.
give those people the server they deserve and give people who wanna play a watered down HC version their own server. ez.
The addon wouldn’t allow the review process to override death equals delete if the official servers enforce it.
Better idea to just have a single server for longevity. Those that wish to be elitists about it can still use the addon. Anyone believing there will be a big enough population to maintain multiple servers long term is fooling themselves.
id argue that having atleats one SSF server is beneficial for longevity. these servers will be for the ages and people who want to start fresh and play real HC dont wanna join a server where every alt runs around twinked out with fiery wep and stuff. and after 1-2 months every server without additional rules will look exactly like that.
That’s fair and perhaps you are correct. I suppose my point was more that only one HC server needs to be made. Its not gonna make or break it for me either way. I do think making the rules more narrow is a bit of a myopic approach but understand many in the HC community feel strongly about the issue.
Bobby is all about money and having one server with the only rule being death equals delete is the most bang for Bobby’s buck
The addon is generous enough compared to the original Ironman hardcore, it allows you to group for a dungeon and also run in duo or trio (cheesy imo). But that’s not enough for some players. What you’re getting is basically a fresh server with no option to resurrect upon death. Give it a month and it’ll be no different than regular Era.
When I think of hardcore mode, it’s my character against the world, making my way with my professions and lucky finds. From what I have been reading on the forums, I don’t think many of you actually want or even like the mode.
I’m not sure I would enjoy the game with the current addon rules, but if thats the only option I’d give it a try.
My understanding has always been that the reason for the strict rules ie no AH, is to ensure the HC players are segregated from the non-HC. I’m hoping Blizz makes a server that is death=delete and lets me level a character, use the AH for gearing and professions and has an active raid scene so I can try my luck at that. For me, limiting the player interaction would be a bad move when they could just disallow boosting and such.
It also keeps the mode more in line with the original Ironman.
You’ll get that with a couple tweaks I’d bet. Probably stuff to stop what people consider griefing.
I’m currently playing a solo run but interact with other players quite a bit during my time online. We don’t need to be grouped or in a dungeon to socialize, just start chatting on general, with players on your boat, in the bank, or anywhere really.
If youre basing servers off of the addon users then you will have to include death appeals.
If you appeal you aren’t hardcore
Please don’t, that’s an embarrassment.
It’s ALL a subjective argument.
It’s like the word “fresh”. There’s TWO camps for that word via Seasonal vs NEW Non-Seasonal Servers. Same with “Hardcore”. It’s all dependent on WHICH camp you’re in via can do anything but only have 1 life OR 1 life but Solo Mode. TBH, the former doesn’t scream “hardcore”, to me
That’s fine to me as long as the hc ironman players aren’t going to freak out and throw a hissy fit if it ends up that majority of players have no interest in that mode.
I don’t see why they would.
I have no issue with you playing the death = delete only, but I still find it cheesy.
This is the best solution. Will it happen? Probably not. But we can hope! If it doesnt the addon crew will probably stay on BB (USA)
Just make it the same exact way we have it for Diablo where we only have one life.
I dont use any addons ever. I have even made it to level cap on retail with taking zero damage and did no groups or boas or any help from anyone. So yea it is very possible to do with and with ease too. Did mine in WM and took no damage and did open world questing. I did one dungeon and one BG. On a druid. And in Classic the zero death thing is fairly easy as well. I did zero damage taken in retail… that would be 100% impossible to do in Classic. I know it for a fact.
