The Earthen (possible minor spoiler)

I have autism. Unfortunately, it’s not the “cool” autism that makes math easy, it’s the my life has been fairly difficult because of it autism.

I thought the Earthen Dwarves were going to be more of an extension of the sort of quasi Scottish dwarves we’ve already had, but I was pleasantly surprised they were nothing like that at all. Instead, they felt autistic.

I know some people get annoyed when people ascribe aspects that the creator didn’t intend onto a character, and I have no idea if the developers intended this, but I find it delightful that the Earthen “feel” autistic to me.

This probably makes little sense and people may get upset with this post, but I just wanted to say I very much enjoy their eccentricities, their directives, their schedules and how they all have routine tasks.

I feel like with my autism the only way I can get through the day a lot of times is to have a routine to stick with, and I feel like the Earthen are sort of the same way and it makes me smile.

So whether it was intended or not, I just wanted to say I was pleasantly surprised to find a race in WoW that felt sorta similar to what I live with. Thank you. That’s all.

I can tell from separating your post by sentance, and that you like the metered way the Earthen talk, that you have a very ordered mind. As someone with OCD, I can appreciate that.

I immediately felt this way after I first heard the Earthens’ speech patterns, and felt akin. Then last night, my husband commented on how rude he thinks they are… I felt so immediately defensive. I asserted that they are just straightforward, and reminded him of how often people think that my own straightforwardness is rudeness.
