The Dracthyr what's Wrong With Them?

The Dracthyr. I was enthusiastic about the new dragonkin race the Dracthyr. So when Dragonflight released I immediately created a Dracthyr character and started doing the early quests. But no mater how much I tried to force myself to like my character I did not feel comfortable with it. Something about it just didn’t feel right. So I thought maybe it’s a visual thing. So I went to character creation to configure a new Dracthyr character, tried different looks. But no matter what I tried, the Dracthyr just didn’t look right or feel right but in some weird unfathomable way. I gave up on trying the play a Dracthyr.

So my question is: Is it just me? Or do other people feel the same weird alienation to the Dracthyr? That makes it impossible for you to play this new race. And if so, what is it about the dracthyr that causes this reaction?

I ask because I have felt comfortable playing all the races of Wow. Except for now, I just don’t feel comfortable with the Dracthyer. But I’m not even sure why?

It is fairly common for people to have issues with warming up to reptiles.

It’s a species that wouldn’t have trouble deciding to eat you.

Why would the aesthetics of a race dictate if you can play the class associated with it?

I’ve never understood this take.

Yeah, just like trolls.

I mostly play humans because I like how they jump. People overthink it.

I mean, you know some Tauren are grilling human burgers on Mulgore Independence Day.

Well, obviously. You can’t mess with tradition, after all.

I like Dracthyr, but the head is a little too slender and snake like for me, and the walk is kinda… how to describe it. It looks like they’re jogging, but because of their size and the need to match the same speed of other races, the animation is a jog but at the speed of a walk and it doesn’t sync perfectly.

I’m happy with my drac even though it took way too much work to make her look remotely feminine. I found a sweet spot and am happy with her now though she’s become my second favorite to play :dracthyr_love_animated:

This is just a guess. I think you may have Herpetophobia; which is a fear of reptiles.

People with herpetophobia are most often afraid of reptiles like snakes and lizards. However, they may also be afraid of other reptiles, such as turtles, alligators, and crocodiles.

Herpetophobia is a specific phobia, which is a kind of anxiety disorder. If you have a specific phobia, you feel an overwhelming sense of fear or anxiety about something.

This may, possibly, theoretically, be the cause of your feeling uncomfortable with a toon Race that exhibits a definite resemblance to reptiles.

I will also add that the Dracthyer also have Bat-like wings. Which may compound the problem if you also have Chiroptophobia; which is a fear of Bats. Again I’m just guessing here.

Now to compound things even further. If you are a Star Wars fan. The Dracthyer can someehat resemble Jar Jar Binks. In which case making the Dracthyer race prohibitive for you to play as.

Again This is just me guessing and theorizing.

I don’t play DH namely because I don’t want to play an elf (sorry not sorry elves). Believe or not but the races people pick do affect what they play.

Having no transmog was a dealbreaker for me. All the fancy model options were fun…during character creation, as soon as I actually played the character for a while it got boring looking the same and knowing I’d always look the same.

I loved them and it became my main character.
The only think i hate is the visage form. It shouldn’t even exist. Blizzard made it just to skip the work of adapting the mail sets to their body.

I absolutely believe this and it’s fair.

The disconnect for me is where people think that something should be done specifically to make things align with what they want.

Like, if the way something looks is so important to you that the way they are now makes you not play it, okay, fine. If it’s that critical to your preference, then play something else, but accept that no one should be changing things just to cater to your tastes, lol.

To think that this needs to be redesigned for this reason is a different story.

Nah, people can say what would make them play something and be valid about it. It’s a common opinion that players have Evoker should of been for every race to function as a visage. Are they wrong to want this change from being forced to have an elf visage?
