The Dracthyr Spread their Wings to New Classes

I dunno, double-standards aside, they knowingly choose the dragon race, not a human… not a blood elf…

Maybe they should live with their choices and PLAY IN DRAGON FORM.

Blizz needs to fix the absolutely goofy run cycle this race has.

Did they farm this animation out to interns or something?

I’m pretty sure accepting the gift of the beings that imprisoned the elements would make the elements unwilling to work with your kind.

What is wrong with choice?
An entire class locked to not having transmog ever show, looking like a lizard (NOT a dragon) and your only arguement is “play in it lol”
Letting people stay in visage does not take away from others who want to stay in lizard form.

You do have a choice.

Play another race and don’t play evoker.

Opinion. They look like dragons to me.

I just think the hover animation should be baseline to any spell similar to hover, like levitate and voidform. Looks better than floating.

There is absolutely no good arguement for not letting you have perm visage on evoker.
Non evoker dracthyr can, why not evoker?
Wow forum goers are a special breed i stg

Just like there’s no good argument why Demon Hunters are BE and NE only almost a decade after their reveal.

Yet here we are.

In all seriousness, only Dracthyr have the physiology to perform the abilities of the Evoker class.

You don’t require draconic physiology to be a Warrior or a Rogue.

Night elf and blood elf are the most popular races in the game (human might be number 1, i think?)
So of course thats not a problem.
Dractyhr are among the most disliked race in the game by comparsion, and its numbers are only propped up by being forced to play it for a new class.

Dracthyr isn’t the most disliked.

Dragonflight is the 4th most played race in baldurs gate 3, clearly there’s a demand for the lizard race.

Which is irrelevant because Demon Hunter isn’t even close to being the most popular class in the game.

It’s perfectly relevant. Locking classes to specific races in general is dumb, but locking them behind the two most popular races in the game is bound to cause significantly less issues than locking them behind one of the least popular.

Like, I don’t particularly want to be forced to play an elf either, but I’d rather my vacation be rerouted to Hawaii than Siberia.

The point that the poster I was responding to was making was that locking Evokers behind Dracthyr was a bad idea, but locking Demon Hunters behind BEs and NEs is just fine because they’re “popular”. In the end, I have no problem with locking classes behind a limited number of races if the class is loaded with uniqueness and flavor, which both Evokers and Demon Hunters possess.

With that said, Evokers are in a far better spot long term than Demon Hunters are.

I made a post about a possible solution to the incoming impact of improved mobility balance on pve/pvp

Eh, I’m not so sure on this.

The Dracthyr race didn’t exist prior to Dragonflight, and the goal for Blizzard was to create a race that could properly utilize the powers of the dragonflight. I believe they largely succeeded. Creating a new dragon race was a better idea than simply giving existing races dragonflight abilities. It would have turned the Evoker class into Mage 2.0.

As for Evoker vs. DH, yeah they’re better off long term because Evokers have a wider design space and three specs.

Which is fine, but doesn’t address the point which is that Dracthyr are one of the more unpopular races in the game.

It isn’t an unreasonable conclusion to draw that Dracthyr being tied to Evoker is at least partially responsible for the low representation of the class as a whole and that having at least the option of permanent visage more than likely increases the number of players willing to play the class.

It’s going to be interesting seeing how much the Dracthyr population increases for classes with the option of permanent visage vs Evokers once they’re unlocked.

The Dracthyr are going to be released to other classes, and more than likely be quite OP for some time until Blizzard figures out a solution to their racials. That will boost their popularity quite a bit.

As for Evokers, their popularity will increase as the class matures and the innate appeal of its design (the 5 dragonflights) gets exposed to more players.
