World content is way, way, waaay too easy.
There is no excuse for content being this easy.
This content barely qualifies as playing a video game.
It wasn’t like this in Legion/BFA/WoD, what happened?

It was in Legion, it was in BfA past the 8.0.x situation where a vast majority of our player power was disabled and no tuning had been done. Can’t speak to WoD but I can’t imagine it was different.
Do hard content. /thread
It was too like this in Legion/BFA/WoD. What you’re looking at is a lot of gear inflation near the end of an expansion, and then you have even more gear inflation this expac because they opted for 39 ilvl increases to the base each season so you can feel extra powerful.
Also, the same thing happens in FFXIV. You’ll be reasonably powerful at the beginning of the expac and then by the end you’re just absolutely destroying things in the world because you have so much more gear.
I don’t ever remember world content having anything but sparse difficulty.
It’s designed so everyone can do it.
world content leads to achievements required to continue the game and things like flying.
if a customer can’t continue, they are pretty much blocked for the rest of an x pac.
I really enjoyed doing questing in the Maw/Perdition Hold early in SLs explicitly because of the challenge. I was using Mind Soothe there before it was cool.
Based on feedback I’ve read that is very much a minority opinion.
World content is designed to be completed by everyone even you, Its literally designed to have 100% completion.
This games world content past cata has always been easy.
No, it’s designed to be as inconsequential as possible. Between ilvls and scaling, you can literally rocket to 60 in less than a day.
We need Vanilla difficulty so badly…
It’s meant to be easy, so that everyone can complete it and reach the highest level.
It’s a video game. I’m playing it to reach levels and then do end game. That’s playing a video game.
Yes it absolutely was. It’s been like this since Cata.
Vanilla wasn’t difficult just tedious
I tried classic. Turning on auto attack then watching YouTube was not difficult
World content is usually too grindy not to be easy.
In my experience, everytime there was an attempt at increased difficulty would result in content taking longer and feeling even more like a chore.
Btw, elites and group content isn’t exactly “hard” either. It’s just content that gets you killed unless you got other players with you.
shhh you’ll scare the “tedium = difficulty” people
But have you tried Hardcore?
Vanilla didn’t have difficulty in the open world, it had tedium, those are different. I’ve little doubt if you made it tedius to do everything in retail a large number of people would not play.
No.
I find the entire process tiresome.
I also find hardcore irrelevant to the conversation. Unless you want to talk about people intentionally making things easy as to not risk death?
Play Hardcore (which is only Vanilla) then come back to me.
Why?
What does hardcore specifically have to do with the difficulty of the grinding process?
Are you saying vanilla itself was not difficult enough?
classic players watching somebody bench 500 pounds: “meh. typical speedrun meta gogogo culture”
classic players watching somebody bench 5 pounds for 80 reps: “now this is challenging. this is strategy. a true test of mettle”
Honestly I wouldn’t want world quests taking forever to do. They aren’t that rewarding
Most of the people that die in Hardcore die from falling off a cliff lol.
