Shadowlands was really my first time playing M+. Although I’ve completed KSM in all 3 seasons so far, S4 would be my first chance to really start out on the same footing as most other players-- since everyone will be learning Iron Docks as M+, etc.
And for someone that really had to work to just get one or two +15s a week into my schedule the previous seasons, the fact that by Sat I had already run ELEVEN made me giddy. Not only that, but my score is just over 1000! Because there’s fewer dungeons this season, you only need 2000 for KSM.
Just FIVE DAYS into the S4, and I’m half-way done! I felt pretty good about that.
And then to compare to the “uber Key Kings” in my guild.
The one guy has now run just under SEVENTY Keys (in 5 days). His IO is 1750. His iLevel is 193 (edit: obvs meant 293). IN JUST FIVE DAYS
That disparity really hit me like a truck, and I’d like to think that me being IO-1000 was above average. I’m trying to imagine the gap between him and what REALLY IS the “average” for the playerbase.
That’s just a crazy amount of progression compared to what most people do. How far are you in your S4 progression? Am I wrong that IO-1000 is above average just 5 days into it?
I’m happy you’re happy dude! Keep on pushing those keys and get it done. I haven’t been able personally to get into even a single +2 for some reason. But then again I don’t care that much either.
Honestly, I’m having a really, Really, REALLY hard time ignoring the overwhelming feeling of how I’m fallllliinnnggg behind. ;(
Most in my guild are now pushing 15-17s and I still have just a bunch of 7-10s.
And it’s not the keeping up with THEM that bothers me, we sometimes run Keys together when things work out, it’s that I’m falling behind the overall Key community, so that next week, I’ll never get into a pug because I’ll be too far behind the curve, that I was in a decent spot.
I hate to say it, but this is why time-gates exist. I want people to be able to enjoy the game if 12+ hour grinding is their thing it just… I can’t escape how it collectively destroys my ability to pug. ;(
I mean, there are some for Valor, but since his rating is now 1800+, it should be obvious he’s not just pushing low keys for Valor. You don’t just 1-shot a +19 Lower Kara, my guy.
you’re actually doing pretty well for yourself tbh. It’s just some players are really good and blow past +15s. And generally for key pushers ksm is really just something they’ll get in 1 to 2 weeks. And tbh seeing as you said this is really your 1st expac doing m+ you still have more learning to do.
The most important thing I’ve learned, is that I’m very outspoken about how I want a way to practice without dragging down 4 other people.
And the most common comment is “just run Heroics.”
What I learned so far in S4, is that you won’t learn ANYTHING worthwhile until you hit around +8. Nothing hits hard enough to teach a lesson, there are ground effects that don’t matter, etc etc. “Running Heroics” is a waste of time if you want to learn KSM-level of Keys.
So that’s what I’m doing so far to learn: run a +8 with ZERO deaths. Once you can do that, timing higher Keys is relatively easy because now you know the mechanics.
yea that’s good. Funny enough you learn more on scuff runs than good runs. Simply because you barely see mechanics on those runs. and tbh this week is the best time to learn because people are generally forgiving in mistakes. Goodluck on you ksm chase
I didnt get to log in until thursday but ive gotten to 1720 IO. With all of the powers we habe now this seasons not been so bad. Hard to get into keys i want because i started late and fell behind. O well
I can’t say I get it, I can’t imagine running something trivial like Stockades 70 times in 5 days much less anything relevant to a capped player. I would be out of my mind by the end of that.
With you on this, why do I have to put the keyholder’s key and everybody’s time at risk to practice? It feels bad, particularly with how low average player patience is.
Especially if I were wanting to tank it would be immensely valuable to have a no-loot solo practice mode to commit routes to memory.
