The difference between Jaina and Sylvanas

Jaina was remorseful, and ended up being pivotal in uniting the factions. Sylvanas not only has no remorse, she is going all out to destroy both the Horde and Alliance.

So not only does Sylvanas go rogue, then devolve to complete evil, she escapes BFA without even a scratch. Worse, actually, she enters the SL after flicking her wrist to take down Bolvar (Lich King 2.0 for those who are not familiar).

So there’s not even the satisfaction of either killing her, or even taking her down and capturing her. In short, for the first time in WoW’s history, we have an expansion where the antagonist doesn’t get defeated. And no, N’zoth doesn’t count. he was just someone to fight at the end of a raid.

If the tables were turned, and Jaina was the one with no remorse, I would feel the same way. It’s just a natural progression - we group up and take down the bad guy. Not only were we robbed of that, there’s no indication that we will get vengeance on Sylvanas in SL either, because Blizzard already stated the Jailer is the final boss.

Maybe Slyvanas has a reckoning somewhere in SL, and somehow comes to a reconciliation with the Horde and Alliance. Whichever way it goes, we deserve closure on how things ended up in BFA. Until I see how that unfolds, I’ll be in Classic, and maybe FFXIV if I start that up again.

Well Sylvanas did get a scratch. Saurfang got her good on the face.

Touche. Forgot about that.

Cool man, I think you’ll get the closure you’re after. Might take a long while though.

Very likely Sylvanas’s story is ending in SL. BfA was just a lead up to it for her, but like this is her endgame. All the cards are on the table now. There’s no real way she’s escaping judgment this time, she’s gone well past the point of no return. And there would be a lot of angry players if she did.

Honestly, my hope is she tries to manipulate the Jailer, and he takes her out.

One is a genocidal maniac who’s wanted / has committed genocide three times, completely breaks the lore balance by having ridiculous amounts of power and being able to do things like fly a giant flying dutchman ship anywhere.

The other is Sylvannas who suffers from piss poor writing choices despite being one of the last few original racial leaders left that anyone really cared about.

Jaina actively participated in targeted genocide in a neutral peaceful city. Nobody bats an eye.

Sylvanas killed a traitor and attacked a hostile enemy that was harassing their shipments. People scream “how dare you”.

Jaina was reprisal for what happened to Theramore which left her mentally unstable and she clearly is affected by her actions.

Sylvanas betrayed the Horde and only used them has tools to start a war to get both sides killed, Saurfang and the rebellion saved the Horde and the Alliance from her.

Oh it’s okay my multiple cases of genocide and betrayal is just ignored if I cry about it for 5 minutes. Neat.

Meanwhile attacking actual enemies and killing one traitor out of dozens is IRREDEAMABLE! No going back! Don’t you date redeem her!

Saurfang betrayed the horde when he forced Sylv’s hand in burning the tree. By refusing to carry out the order to kill the one leader they came to get. It was literally his plan to do this entire mission. He brought the catapults there. He brought the munitions.

Sylv just did the best with what she had. And Blizzard wants to retcon this like it was all part of her 7D chess all along so fools gobble it up since the saw how much the community responded to that one action.

Eh. In my experience, people that seriously try to compare Jaina to Sylvanas are likely biased Sylvanas fans, or sometimes biased Garrosh fans.

It’s pretty disingenuous to try to paint the two characters as the same.

Holy Headcanon, Batman!

The only one obsessed with Malfurion was Sylvanas.

It was not one of the objectives that she tasked Saurfang with in “A Good War”. She only brought it up to try to scapegoat Saurfang for her decision to deviate from that plan.

You can tell we’re getting close to cinematics season when the number of Sylvanas threads start multiplying.

Rent free in your head OP.

Elune whispered to Saurfang, stopping him from killing Malfurion.

She then whispered to the Night Elves, lulling them to sleep so they could not flee when the Teldrassil burned.

The unjust ladder of their lives must be dismantled, not rung by rung, but all at once. All of it. She had been the plaything of a self-righteous cosmos long enough." - Shadows Rising. (Sylvanas.)

Jaina seems like a bottom to me. Sylvie would definitely want full control.

BTW, please enlighten us with the supposed genocides that Jaina has committed.

As far as I recall, the only time she even came close was when she was going to flush out Org with a tidal wave, but eventually chose not to.

Since she didn’t, it is erroneous to claim that she did.
