"The developers disrespect the Alliance player races"

If Blizzard loves Horde so much explain Highmountain Tauren and Nightborne.

They get so little love.

It balances itself out that anytime the story isn’t focused on a faction war, The Horde might as well not exist.

The Horde is a plot device for the faction conflict outside a few specific characters.

Exactly, What has the horde done in Dragonflight that was significant or Horde feeling in anyway outside the Forsaken getting their heritage questline armor set. This upcoming patch is all about the night elves and their new tree in the emerald dream. With a big focus on the green dragon flight and the night elves. Night Elves are Alliance. We could add tauren into this because its druids and hyjal. But nahhhh we just gonna pretend the Horde doesn’t exist.

And tbh as much as i love faction focus, the lack of Horde precense or acknowledgement in this expansion doesn’t even bother me. What bothers me is the Alliance victimizing itself once again when the entire Dragonflight has nothing to do with any Horde race what so ever and there is a big focus on one of the core alliance races which is Night Elves.

They may have had a better reception if the new playable races were added to the character select screen without the tasks associated with getting them in the first place.

Yet again. NE’s get featured a lot over the last several expacs.

You can’t blame that solely on Danuser. The epic warrior women race of WC3 was reduced to bouncy anime girls in vanilla. There have been so many moments prior to the burning of the world tree where nightelves just, weren’t allowed to be as cool as they’re supposed to

High Elves are just generic. I much prefer my Void Elf that can potentially take center age in a Void expansion.

EDIT: “center stage”

Worgen are great, got an update, probably deserve tails, but hardly a deal breaker for the ‘coolness’ of the race.

Dwarves are amazing, good customizations, strong racials, Dark Irons could use a smidge more customizations (but most allied races do).

Mechagnomes are underrated because of the difficulty in transmogging with their mechalimbs, but very good racials and a cool theme.

Draenei just getting their Red skin tones was a big win, they look great, always have though.

Not sure why we’re mentioning Panda/Dracthyr, you’re just making noise at this point.

It isn’t the devs fault Alliance players gravitate to the human-hero archetype, same stats coming out of BG3. People like Humans for whatever reason and it makes the other races seem unpopular.

Play both factions, so you don’t feel so victimized.

I don’t believe the Allied races were a huge success the way they were implemented and almost all of them could have been customizations for their main variant races. But this is what we have, and more options is almost always better.

To be fair a lot of that is because Horde leaders get removed because they actually GET story archs. The reason Baine and Lorthemar are still around and never got killed off is because they do nothing.
Plenty of Alliance Leaders also got killed off infact Staghelm started the trend of ‘Faction leader went evil and became raid boss’ And plenty of Alliance leaders also get Neglected (Velen, Mekkatorque, all 3 of the dwarf council.) Even Tyrande who got her people genocided, and went and did a ritual to become a living avatar of vengance then jsut disapeared and did nothing for a whole expansion, only to come back, kill Nathanos, disapear again and then lose the powers without actually doing ANYTHING with them.

Got to agree with this, can’t stand the little rats, and wish we never got them, but you also can’t deny far more effort went into making them than most other allied races, and they are disgustingly popular.

And Blood elves, especially the men have less customisation options than most Allied races
We get to edit, skin, face, hair, eyes, and that’s it. No jewlery, no tattoos, no war paints, no scars, most other races get 3 damn pages of things to edit, Blood elf men get bare bones basics less than allied races get. Void elves get more than us and they are cheep knockoffs!

Not just the new races, old races have been wwatered down too. Blood elves lost their darker side and are no longer desperate mana-vampires, but basically now just are High elves with a different name. Forsaken are now ‘protectors of the living’ (lol) And Orcs now don’t like war and just want peace etc

That’s true, maybe unsupported is a better word? For reference, I main both a goblin and worgen I made in Cata since I was so excited about both. Launch aside though, Worgen have gotten a huge model update, fully customizable human forms, and a bunch of new appearance options since they’ve been introduced. Goblins? Uhhhh
Gazlowe?

Much love for my Worgens but as someone who plays both, goblins have objectively been more neglected over the years.

all i know is the goblin starting area is the cutest thing. i laughed alot. so cute

Spoiler

i was disappointed when the whole place was destroyed

He mad they are more horde than him. THE first vulpera we met fought for her freedom and wore a enemies skull as a hat. That’s way more metal than some roid rage orc stereotype.

i think they are adorable, but aint nothing more metal than orcs lol

Why should it be Horde-only? We play both sides, and both customers should be covered with interesting choices and not just blatant one-sided biases. This is the fourth playable dwarf-race for the Alliance now. It would be even the fifth with the Frostdwarves.

This is an incorrect statement. Both sides criticized on all major platforms the design choices, especially MMO-champion and reddit. If you think this is an “Alliance”-only thing, then you’re not up to the times.

Void Elves are perfect fit but were a spit-in-your-face race for an almost two decade old request to give the Alliance the High Elf as a proper race.

They are represented way too differently to give your argument any valid reasoning. If we compare Darkspear and Zandalari Trolls, we can clearly see different animations, body masses and skin colors shown. Humans VS Kul Tirans, basically. But the problem lies with the over-saturation of human-like races and lack of race diversity on Alliance.

I somewhat agree, but to fair, I don’t like Draeneis to begin with. I even forgot the LFD to mention in the main post.

Yes. But then, again, it was a basic job for the developers. What most of you forget is that they are just basic color changes. They didn’t even give the Alliance the corrupted Draenei fel skins, which could have been easily used. Most of the new weapons are also only locked-away material, which was never made public. Comparable to the missing Heritage Weapons for the Void Elves, which have been locked away for +7 years now. The only real work went into the Hearthstone and racial effect. Everything else could have been done within one day of work.

Should already have happened in WoD. I’m also still waiting for them.

Absolutely. This is how the High Elf-players got their subrace. I would love to write that it was the common effort of both the high elf and anti crowd, but the reality looks different: It was one of the most discussed backlash-topics globally, with everyone agreeing on the same points: “Why can’t Void Elves like their leader” and “the Alliance should have gotten High Elves without tentacles”.

They got their wish.

They can make them available to the Horde. Lore-wise, there is a splinter-group which is not loyal to the Three Hammers or how their union is called.

And it was massive backlash what followed, because the lusting ex-developer Alex Afrasiabi knew he was going to axed and simply put a sword into the community. That’s what happened and the developers still need to undo the damage he has done to the game.

We are talking about two different things here. Yes, the customization was abysmal. However. And here is the big however: They were extremely highly requested during Legion. Go back to the old topics and read the discussions about it. Everyone wanted them.

To be fair, most people don’t know anything about the lore, even who write in this topic. I read in the past questionable postings from Alliance-players that the Horde literally dominates the Broken Shore, while they also forgot that the Alliance has already a foothold with the Night Elves and Worgens on the whole island.

I agree with you here but this has absolutely nothing to do with the gameplay aspect of the topic.

You are forgetting someone. Velen will also survive everything he is thrown into. I already wrote you this years before: The Alliance characters are the main characters of World of Warcraft. They always have been and always will be. Every cosmic threat is linked to them, not the Horde. Until TWW.

They simply shouldn’t have given the Mechagnomes at the same time out with the Vulpera. It only showed an extreme bias. The gilgoblins would have been the equivalent trade-off.

Yes, but only “right now”. It took over half a decade to ruin the Alliance, abandon the faction war because of this and changing WoW forever, because our red group started to dominate everything. Big difference.

Yes. The writing team is not known for good writing. And the best story beats are gatekeeped behind novels, which should have never happened. It makes everything bland and unprofessional looking.

Why do all of you people forget the topics made during Legion and Battle for Azeroth? The Vulpera were also very popular back then, even before they became playable.

This is because of the Blood Elf-players. Most of the Alliance-players switched over, which is also why so many want a humanized story and not be the bad or misunderstood guys. They want to play Alliance as Horde, because it would fit their beautiful looking characters better.

Yes. But it only matters now, after the faction balance was destroyed and cross-faction gameplay was introduced. Before that nobody cared about this enough to switch over. You can only post such comments because the other half of the customer base was neglected.

Let me guess: Since cross-faction, yes?

I have already answered similar things in the past, but I disagree with you simply on one statement: The Alliance started to victimize themselves, because they have a good reason for it. The past has shown it again and again, that their numbers were not only dwindling, but they also got disrespected so many times by the developers as well.

Both races had a great update during SL. What HMT lacks are actual racial weapons, which aren’t looked behind digging things up and being a heirloom weapon.

And yet nobody wants to play them. I guess this says all what is to it, no?

I have written about this above already. It was just a simple job which required not much effort from the developer team. But it did opened a lot up for them.

Because these are actual facts. Go back in time and read the topics on reddit. The highest voted ones for Drak’thyr were the questionable design choices and requested body changes, including a more muscular tone.

And Pandaren are a very beloved race which needs more care given.

I’m a RPer, I have leveled almost every sex and race at LV50-70 and adore almost every race, expect for the female Draenei. I think I’m more than just entitled to give my feedback regarding how I feel.

Yes. People forget this way too often, that they haven’t been shown as the cute little things but vicious backstabbing beings, who recycle everything they can find.

man you arent kidding. we were down to 12 guilds in the top 100, the other 88 were horde. and when i’d mention this, theyd say its cuz we suck at playing the game. lol

as regards mechagnomes:

its because 1) when they came out, the horde was the dominate faction in the usa by a huge margin, so not enough alliance to populate them, 2) they werent full mechas, which is what players who wanted mechas, asked for, 3) and because they could mog clothing instead of mechanical parts and yet could mog pants, they ended up looking rather stupid if their legs werent covered by a robe or skirt. the entire selection of moggable pants became underwear so pants were a no-go for most - thus the diaper meme. 4) gnomes made alot of enemies during vanilla and tbc. lol they were BiS mages and warlocks on alliance

alliance asked for cool allied races so we could compete at the char creation screen with horde races but the devs decided to ignore all our requests till alliance was almost completely dead.

ONLY IF DEM ORCS IZ FROM WARHAMER! WAAAAUUUUUUUGHHHH!

I cant stand to read that
Alliance has Humans and the racial they have is so op. Sorry you get another basic dwarf
 nuff said.

Most of the horde converted to alliance because they hate Vulpera that much. Alliance is thriving just fine. I’d like to see a race brought in that will bring that player base back to the other side.

Nope they hate us Vulpera that much that they defected to the alliance. You guys are fine
.

Vulpera and Gnoll team up. We kill those who disrespect us and eat em.

are you making fun of my spelling?
its just true. orcs are so metal, most people who dont like metal, wont play them because they have no redeeming non metal characteristics (*except for thrall who is the least metal orc in the whole of orcdom. <3 thrall. ) thats pretty metal. on the other hand, vulperas are adorable and are an easy choice for folks who dont like full metal, even if they can be vicious, they aint full metal
