Factions do this by having enough miners in route that will kill any other alliance farmers on sight. In a zone like ungoro the run back from spirit healer is LONG (especially to get to the area with RTV) and it takes 2-3 kills and the enemy will leave, res sick or log out.
I have had many times I’m downing alliance farmers and my faction just rides past. They don’t want to engage.
I’ve noticed this as well. It’s sad to see. I’m tired of seeing it. Opposite faction is fair game. But when it’s the same faction people should really show some etiquette and respect for one another. I can personally guarantee I’m wealthier than most people in-game and I’ve never stolen any Herbs from my own faction or enemy faction for that matter.
People are just greedy scumbags. Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do about it besides becoming the change in the world we wish to see and hoping our example may bring about real positive change in other individuals.
Fair point.
I’m a cut throat capitalist. That’s not capitalism. That’s greed. And if you think they are one in the same. Then I have a bridge to sell you.
With lotus going for over 100g I honestly don’t blame them. I still don’t snipe others because I don’t want that bad karma following me, but I’m not surprised that some players would snatch 100g from others. Especially when we’re seeing bis items being auctioned for over 3000g.
Part of my project in seeing how other Servers work and operate…the price of Black Lotus varies. It’s 50g on BB but 100g on Pagle. I’ll be checking Atiesh, soon. All Alliance, so far. I’ll be checking Horde, soon.
I’ve been mining/herbing steppes since the beginning and I can say it’s probably gotten worse but the etiquette was always much worse than vanilla imo.
I usually ask (guess I’m a boomer) if I see somebody sitting at a node. But yeah there’s plenty of horde that will just run up and start trying to tap nodes as I’m mining them or pick herbs as I’m picking them (esp Lotuses).
But I saw this behavior back in October/November, and I usually just ignore people if they try to steal from me, so I know not to run dungeons or anything else with them.
It’s not griefing or cheating, but it’s definitely a douchebag thing to do to node snipe from underneath someone clearing it.
Some people are douches, some aren’t. Just ignore the douches and don’t trade with them or invite them to groups. And remember their names so you can node snipe them and spit on them and/or /laugh while they get ganked by the opposite faction and you run by.
I’ll be polite to people unless they screw me, then no more politeness for that specific person.
"We used to have unspoken rules to gathering: if someone is fighting a mob near a mob, wait to see if they go for the node after combat, never snipe mining node taps, etc. "
This was never a thing in this iteration of classic. I’ve had people try mine a node I’m actually mining
Sure it was a thing. I farm outside all the time and the majority of people are polite and won’t snipe you for RTV or herbs (black lotus is probably the only exception). Then there’s a minority that are selfish.
OP is also correct that there’s more people sniping now.
Yeah there’s a break point for everyone in this conversation probably. I’ll snipe a plaguebloom, because if I get 3x out of it thats at least 8gold on my server. But I’m not going to worry about sungrass. And I’m pretty confident everyone in here is going to be less concerned with etiquette if they see someone fighting a plaguehound right next to a black lotus.
Exactly. Its nothing personal. Its a rare item that has a lot of value. Ill walk past the plaguebloom because ik theres one around the corner. But im not going to pass on a black lotus. Ill take that Black Lotus over 1m of some strangers praise anyday
When resources are scarce there are no rules. When I can spend 2 hours in a zone and not see a single node because there are 30 other horde in the zone and likely just as many ally Im going to take what I can get.
