The Day that Deathwing Came

This quest is bugged. The third phase of this quest will not start. This is the last quest I need to finish my Loremaster of Eastern Kingdoms.

I’ve tried restarting, disabling all addons, switched characters, reloaded UI, nothing is allowing me to begin the third part of this quest. Talking to the NPC does nothing, he just turns back around.

I’ve done every other quest in the zone, came back to try again and nothing. Could not complete on multiple characters.

Just got this to work shortly after finding this post. i had a buff active that effected the world something “ash storm” or other, dispell it by right clicking it and the quest should allow the cutscene to play.

I’m having trouble completing the 2nd quest because I can’t click on the sun, it keeps telling me “Im too far away”.

Same here sun is always to far away

This, came here to report this. Only way I could get an active cursor on The Sun was to leave the vehicle, switch to flight form and then I could fly up to dead center on the sphere, but since I wasn’t in the vehicle no quest credit

I’m having the same problem, unable to interact with the sun anywhere. Tried abandoning/restarting the questline, disabling my add-ons and reloading the game, tried different location that the sun could spawn. Still couldn’t interact with it in anyway to complete the 2nd part of this quest.

Found a Fix!

So as Braff noted, you could interact by leaving the the gnome and going on foot. I went lower in the canyon because the sun automatically spawns when you reach max height if you’ve left the quest already, left the vehicle (the gnome you’re piloting) then re-entered the quest by asking him to tell the story.

I was able to interact with the sun that had previously spawned by staying small. and getting in range on the sides of the canyon.

Bruh that worked, so dumb tho…

I had the same problem, but Fangrir’s fix worked for me; however, I did not reposition myself. Just by being the smallest version of the gnome, I could interact with the sun even though it was way directly above me. All I had to do was spawn the sun near the base and then reload myself in as the smallest size gnome. Thanks for the help!

Same issue, dropped quest, redid quest. Dropped quest, disabled addons, redid quest. Dropped quest, logged out, no addons still, redid quest. Dropped quest, restarted quest staying at growth 1, got so my whole head was inside the sun… out of range.

  • Came back to say, that I was able to touch the sun here today. Was thinking with it being downday for the servers, maybe the old “turn it off, and back on” might have fixed it… and it did.

Just had this same problem but have now completed the quest after a few tries, The try that worked went like this: I started the quest at the quest giver, watched the little video and then once that ended I immediately went into the gnomes big form which spawned a sun directly above me but i could not click it “too far away”… So then i immediately left vehicle (red arrow) jumped on a mount and then quickly restarted the quest while the sun from my previous attempt was still above me, watched the little video and this time BEFORE changing size to the big form i looked up at the old sun that was still there from the previous try and i was now able to click the sun and complete the quest… Im not sure if mounting helped or was luck but i was trying anything at that stage… Also had to try a few times but that was the process of how it actually ended up working for me.

The bug where you cant click the sun; what worked for me was growing in max size, doing the 5 clouds then exiting the vehicle, re-entering it, not moving or touching anything until after the scene and the controls appear. I stayed small, looked for the closest cloud, walked to it and positioned myself right under it, grew in size just once (enough to trigger the cloud) and as soon as pressed 2 I noticed dead center in the cloud there was a small hit box, I tried to click that and it worked, deathwing spawned. Best of luck yall, this one was a pain (i disabled addons too).

Four years since reporting and this bug hasn’t been fixed. How about if you simply remove these quests from the game and then demote who whoever published them without any obvious QA down to some administrative tasks? They obviously do not need to be developing. I’ve known interns that can code and QA better than this.

Thanks.
