The current state of the Pandaren

I started to fall in love with the Pandaren again, after I got dragged to a RP-event recently. After a few discussions with my relatives, we found many problems when it comes to the race which I will try to bring up here.

Character model:

  • Disconnected neck/hair issues on both the male and female model, this is more visible on the female character
  • Teeth fangs bug: Only visible during the walking/running animation, should be an on/off customization option as well
  • Reduced depth to the fur skins: Disconnect hair/beard-lines, looks like “plastered” on, rather feeling natural
  • Eye Blinking
  • Removable sandals
  • Removable tail (male)

Gameplay/Lore:

  • Every class: No access to the original Shen-zin Su/Wandering Isle for RPs (limited to monks as a new Legion-instance which is not the same as the original island)
  • Adding the Druid class to the race

Aesthetic/Customization requests:

  • Adding the Legion artifact monk weapon physics (both the bouncing keg/tincture) to older weapon models
  • Releasing the unavailable transmog sets other Pandaren wear (Wandering Isle, Halfhill, Shado-Pan, Sam the Wise…)
  • Making the “hold the keg”-character animation a permanent option for brewmaster players in general (“technology” is visible in the Pandaren starter zone near the end, when the player has to rescue wounded Alliance-sailors (quest id: 29794)
  • Brewmaster kegs on the back transmog
  • The mentioned fangs-bug above, as a customization option
  • More skin-variations to the current colorizations (different fur patterns)
  • Height/Weight/scars/blind eyes/eyebrows-options
  • Customizable ears, muzzles, paws
  • Fur markings to denote Ally/Horde allegiance
  • Luminescent Celestial allegiance marks
  • “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”-eyes option, based on Samwise’s artworks (eyes without pupils, perhaps when they are angry?)
  • Reevaluation of all Pandaren-based toys to bring it up to the current standards (“Honorary Brewmaster Keg”-toy should work like the “Jolly Roger”-pirate flag, as an example)
  • Adding belts with herbs (physical attribute) to the game
  • Not a red and blue heritage armor, if possible…
  • Adding Chen Stormstout-like bracelets in various colors as a “hand”-transmog
  • Hiding the ears for the “straw hat” transmog model (clipping issue, other similar Pandaren hats don’t have those problems)
  • Option to change the color of the stones and metals of their hair- and body-jewelry

Perception/Ideas:

  • Would players play them more if they could be a true neutral race, having gameplay-wise access to both Alliance and Horde cities/quests/stories, regardless of the limitations?
  • Would players play them more if they male character model was thinner and transmog will suit them better?
  • Did Blizzard overdid it with pulling the Pandaren out of the on-going story, after the initial reception due Dreamwork’s “Kung Fu Panda”?
  • Do the Pandaren truly need to fight each other in a faction war? Is the Tushui/Huojin-concept outdated?
  • Racial ability “Quaking Palm”: Should it be buffed or changed?
  • Is the “nom nom nom” Pandaren-language too offensive and childish? They are not speaking “Pandaren” but “Mogu”, the original Pandaren language has been lost when the Mogu enslaved them.

Feel free to add more ideas/issues, I’ll add them to the list.

Problems? Perfect as is.

Those bears are awesome bc food buff x2 and most use special “herbs”.

Is there nothing you wish they would add or change at all?

1 v 1 arena que

Ppl hate bears bro

So do they Gnomes, Goblins, Vulperas and everything that’s not a human or elf. However, things can be improved to make them more attractive to play.

Pandaren really need some in-depth facial customization. When you have a model that big, with a head to match, little details matter more. I’ve always been put-off by the doe-eyed/dead inside stare the females have.

Let us have some of the same customization options we see on humans to adjust brows, eyes, and face shape. This goes for all races, but I find the face region to be very important to the Pandaren “problem”.

All I care from them are:

  • their Epicurean Food Buff advantage
  • their Gourmand Cooking +15 during leveling the Cooking skill
  • their Bouncy… only half falling damage

I have a question to Pandarens. Do you use Quaking Palm to incapacitate your target for 4 sec on Mythic+? I realized that I have taken away this button already from my Hotbars becoz I am Range and I never melee. I just thought of putting it back when I remember I had PuGs who never intterupts. I know it has 2 min cd but it’s better than nothing.

Blinking would help a lot.

Just make a hotkey macro mod for it. Press Shift or Alt to swap the button’s initial skill with the new one.

This is the biggest reason why I just can’t play any of the beast races, their body proportions stretch all conventional armor into something unrecognizable somewhere or another (helms for Tauren/Worgen), boots and hands (Tauren/Draenei), etc etc…

I think buff Pandas would look cooler tbh, but I’d be down for thinner Pandas for a more caster/lorewalker type vibe.

At the very least, they need to do something about their torso/legs proportions.

Add fur dye to make them able to RP as brown bear, grizzly bear, polar bear or black bear. (Or with the primary colors to play a care-bear.)

Panda’s are the cutest.

I’d like to see more facial customization along the same lines as the Vulpera, with options for ears, muzzles, noses, etc. Maybe some fur markings to denote Ally/Horde allegiance and luminescent markings for Celestial allegiance. And then just fix the seam in our necks and finish our Heritage armor and I’ll be happy.

As to the question about Quaking Palm, I only ever use it on Stargorger and that’s only with characters that don’t have a stun through their class abilities.

I think adding Druids to the panda’s class list would be a huge improvement :sunglasses:

It’s based on the real animal though.

Added to the list.

Yeah, by making them humans or elves. People don’t like playing ugly monsters.

By making them to humans and elves would be an admission of lack of fantasy and creativity. Playing something completing unfamiliar can also feel great as well.

Option to change the color of the stones and metals of their body jewelry. They did it for several races, why not them?

This goes for hair decorations too.

It was a joke. The point being that there is a reason why people gravitate towards humans and elves and not the monster races.

Added. The more gets added, the likely one of the CC will finally merciful enough to decent from their eternal sleep and link the topic where it might gets attention.
