Mythic raids, high level M+, and rated PvP are the only content that actually require “balancing” at all. Specifically at the level where a 1% dps increase matters. For LFR/Norm and arguably even Heroic… such a DPS increase doesn’t really matter. Hence why heroic is cleared within 1-2 raid nights for most competent teams. So it only seems logical that if you’re going to think about content in terms of strict balance… You’d be thinking about the content that actually needs that balance.

I wouldn’t actually be against that. So long as the gear in the raid was stronger (and hence desirable) than the gear from the world, I’d have no issue whatsoever with this. If need be, then separate the affixes to raid or world specific, so one doesn’t encroach on the other.

Yup, as I said, I hope they learn their lesson for 8.3. At this point, I’m not sure they could do anything. Removing them would just annoy most of the mythic player base who’s already sunk loads of effort into them. I’m just shocked that they weren’t hotfixed the day that the error (in my eyes) was noted.

I guess why I say it’s a WF/TF problem is that because of how much inherent RNG there is in gear nowadays… It’s impossible to know where your next upgrade is going to come from. Heck… I’m a mythic raider and I’m wearing… wait for it… a HEROIC DUNGEON RING… I almost scrapped it before I realized how much it TF’d! There used to be a clear “go to dungeon/raid A for slot X” or “craft B for slot Y.” Now it’s very up in the air. You are right that it is nice to have some assurance of minimal RNG with this… but… they did it in exactly the wrong way for me.

My point is that, while I’m ok with World Content progression paths… I’m not ok with them invalidating raid progression paths inside of the raid content. And as for it being “no work.” I’m already doing world content while grinding essences, grinding AP, and grinding mats. This actually isn’t much more work on top of what I was already going to be doing in preparation for the raid.

I guess I should’ve hedged this further. Re-read that as: You’d in fact have world quest players using gear IN SPECIFIC SLOTS that’s stronger than Mythic raiders out in the world.

4 pieces of gear that are literally BiS is the definition of invalidating gear upgrades for those slots in raid progression content. The boss gear that drops from these slots almost reach the point of not needing to exist. Again, leather boots in EP are analogous to cloaks in Siege of Orgrimmar (Legendary cloak raid).

What’s hard about it?! This has been the way of it since the begining. Competitive people will do whatever it takes to get an edge. If you have a competitive bone in your body you’re gonna want to do it. Once again, it’s been around since the start.
It’s not about self control, it’s about competition. If you get an edge you need to do it if you want to win. Simple fact.
It’s not just about a couple pieces though. It’s about everything. Blizzards trying to make you do everything so you don’t get bored and unsub. Want to be competitive? Well you have to do mythics, get your PvP chest, raid, do islands, do afk warfronts and world quests.
People don’t like everything. People like what they like. How is it a good design philosophy to encourage people to spend time doing content they don’t enjoy? All so they can do well in the content they do? Just let them do their content and have fun doing what they want to. If they want to dabble in the other stuff that’s fine, they can go ahead, but there should be zero incentive to do content that you don’t enjoy. That’s how you get people to unsubscribe and play something they do enjoy.
I got your guys’ back in this thread - We would crush those PvE’ers if it was a sudden PvP battle lol - Prob wouldn’t even know how to trinket and take them 3 seconds

This is absurd. The gaps were ridiculous in vanilla. Vanilla is the place where I could stand there and pelt a raid-geared warrior on my hunter and not even make a tiny dent in his health.
Eh sorta… My two friends and I took on two raid geared people in wpvp. Went back and forth, they’d kill us, we’d kill them. (Edit to say I wasn’t even max level and my two buddies were barely geared at all)
Honestly back then the skill seperation was much larger. Much more people with much more back pedaling and clicking.

Trust me the raiding scene isnt’ getting smaller because it’s “hard” to get into them. But because of it now requiring to farm ap and essences from other content that are pretty terrible for someone that just like to raid and that most rewards seems meaningless with things like titanforging, no tier sets and most raid only having an achievement as a reward not even 1 mount for mythic last boss.
Also, there are guilds and groups that will teach new people. You haven’t been looking for them or making them. You are at much fault as who you are blaming for them not existing. You shouldn’t expect a carry, if you want a carry buy one.
