First a question for someone who rarely does M+ - can anyone tell me what level of gear drops from M+0?
Second, as I understand it, any level of M+ gear can be turned into tier gear. So that being so, for a social scrub like myself, would a M0 tier set be any better for my general play needs than whatever I can get out in the world or craft?
I forget the exact number, but it’s on wowhead. Probably 226 or 239 I’d assume, though.
The way the catalyst works is that it takes any season 3 gear (that’s raid, pvp, or m+) and allows you to trade it for a tier piece, preserving tertiaries and sockets, but not specific secondaries, those are determined by the price you get back. It also requires like 1500 or so cosmic soul ash.
You trade in a 239 haste/verse head piece, you get a 239 tier head piece which may be crit/mastery. If you trade in 242 haste mastery head piece, you get a 242 crit/mastery head piece. Same piece as before, but 242. I don’t know what happens if (or if you can) trade in off set pieces (like belt or rings). Also, world drops or gear from the various faction vendors doesn’t count.
Mythic 0 gear is listed as 1/12 in the tool tip and you can put it in the valor upgrade system and see that it will upgrade. So in theory, you should be able to farm mythic 0 and convert it. Unless they have some special exception built into that system we haven’t seen yet.
From what I understand ANY gear can be made into tier gear, at least that’s how it reads because you can upgrade raid, vault, dungeon drops and PVP gear into tier gear.
Which is massive, get a piece of high iLVL PVP gear with the higher PVP stats and convert to tier for PVE content. But what I didn’t see was what happens with tier gear in PVP? Because that’s massively unfair between now and when players can make their own 4 piece, RNG can be a pain, but this is a little too much.
I think the stats change when you make the tier piece. That would be some major system gaming if they didn’t. Can you imagine being able to use the Creation Catalyst to customize the stats on your tier pieces?
I know PVP gear has a higher iLVL in PVP, but does the tier bonus itself change also? Because yeh, some of those bonuses are garbage, yet others are way too OP.
It seems like the pvp set has the same bonuses as the raid tier pieces. I don’t know if that means you can mix the tier pieces and pvp pieces for set bonuses though.
You can farm Mythic Guardian, Skolex, or desausage, and get lucky with vault drops. You don’t need to kill a boss on a difficulty to get the tier from it in vault (new this patch, only for tier).
I guess you could see if there are non tier shoulders or chest from the first 8 and convert them. I know the first boss has a leather chest, so it might still be possible.
I have a couple of those pieces. I took one to the upgrade guy. He said I needed a certain mythic+ rating on my char in order to upgrade with Valor. I can’t remember what it is 600 or 900 or ???
So you can upgrade, but doing only Mythic Zeroes will not give you a rating number for the dungeon. You’ll have to do +2/+3 at least to get a score.
Non-tier set slots (Cloak, Bracers, Belt and Boots) can also be input into the Catalyst, and these will be turned into “Tier” pieces with different stats. These off-pieces will not count towards obtaining a set piece, but it can be a useful way to chase stats that might be better for your spec.
Not exactly customising but an way to fish for better secondaries
1 piece per week with the CD reducing as the patch goes on
