The crafting system needs these changes

I really don’t like the new crafting system, old crafting system was better. I haven’t even capped the new system on any char and probably never will.

This alone is why i dont like the current crafting system. i enjoy farming the mats and stuff, doesnt really bother me…but when im about to craft an enchant or something, and it costs 5-8k for that enchant, and i have to provide MY mats, for 50G comish, it really makes me hesitant to do ANY orders. Almost made that mistake and it would have cost me so much.

Crafting spark gear requires mettle yes, if people want those first bonuses. If they don’t they are getting a lot less points. So it’s one or the other. People are conflating all the ways to get points thinking you can get like 300 points in a week when you can’t even get half that.

After everything from the first week and one time items and stuff you need 440 more points. 440. I don’t think that 10 extra from a book one time is gonna help. It’ll shave a week off your 7 months.

If I started today on a brand new Jewel crafter would it really take 7 months to get the specialization maxed out?

Yes. I did the math above.

This system does not prevent that, you just have to delegate to alts. With the weekly time gates, it’s not an enormous burden to run a couple of alts specializing in different trees of the same profession, and having them “keep up”. Yea, that’s a bit of a higher bar than “everyone can do everything”, but it’s not THAT high.

Yes, approximately

Well rip might as well wait until War then. No point to even bother!

nope - JC was the easiest one for me of the crafting professions.

Well for me it vastly increases my costs and time to level a prof. It completely removes any ability for me to make any gold while leveling because they weren’t maxed and the inability to get public orders meant I had to wait to gain levels. :speak_no_evil::see_no_evil::hear_no_evil:

This and provide recipes so we can level to max without relying on the work order system.

Edit: Treat profession points like crests. Weekly cap, but raises every week. If I start a profession 2 patches in, let me farm the points for my tree all I want.

Only REcrafting spark gear needs mettle (5 of it), crafting does not, go check again.
Only profession gear needs mettle, 300mettle for LW knife for example.

Right, professions stuff, you’re right. There still isn’t enough sparks for that anyway. So making that stuff for points, mettle or not, is not a way to get a lot of extra points.

Crafting green PvP gear gives a lot of points since there are ton of recipes from 3 seasons now.
Spark gear is mostly used for leveling skill to max, main reason is not knowledge points.

Somehow people are so focused on maxing whole profession tree, like it is not possible to earn single gold without max. And that is so far from the truth.
The whole point is to put KPs in profitable recipes and there are not many of them.

I guess I would argue that all “Vibrant” recipes are profitable now and have been since launch. I have Artisan Crafter and I didn’t cheese it with alt orders. I craft a ton of cloth gear for all slots, both public and private orders.

The green PVP patterns are bought on the AH as far as I know and they are not cheap, unless there is somewhere to get them I’m not aware of.

It’ll definitely be interesting to see which changes to the profession system they make in Warthin. Worst case they do nothing, best case they:

-Remove material ranks
-Provide better catch-up mechanics
-Integrate the order system with the Auction House to directly purchase/import items at the crafting order station
-Fix the mailbox notifications so it shows the mailbox icon when someone’s crafted without having to relog
-Make a public “crafter finder” where crafters can advertise their services, comment specifically on what they charge and any requirements, etc.
-Expand orders to everything that’s craftable and make it way, way easier to do transmog shopping.
-Let anyone view another crafter’s abilities without having to be manually linked (links can go in the crafter finder)

i had a great convo with Fyakk and they will fly over corn fields so we all have enough popcorn to watch this thread

You know what the quality is going to be before you craft it though.
