I read that corpses are going to despawn at a faster rate like on live so that… wait for it… people don’t spell out bad things with them…
On OSRS you can drop stuff on the ground which eventually leaves a red dot on the minimap - you can spell out any hateful thing you want with that but i’ve never heard Jagex give that kind of silly complaint any credence by even acknowledging it.
So, what’s going on here? Because it is an actual negative thing for the game for epic battles to not leave piles of corpses in symbolic recognition of the war that was waged there. Where as i don’t think any rational person would say spelling out naughty things with corpses is an issue worth even acknowledging, let alone changing the game (FOR THE WORSE) over.
It comes down to money and time. They don’t want to fix it and it has nothing to do with spelling out bad things that’s just a cop out. You can spell out anything you want on live using feasts…
Feasts didn’t exist in vanilla, and I remember gold farmers spelling out adverts in the middle of IF with corpses all the time, as well as other colorful things being done with corpses, and they persisted for a LONG time. OMG, I can’t create 50 skeletons of myself in one area. It’s not that big of a deal.

It’s just a damn shame because it’s the culmination of all of these smaller and (in blizzard’s opinion) ‘ignorable’ issues that accumulate and eventually cause some of the problems we see in the live game.
Like there’s no good reason to change the way corpses despawned and on the order of balance it probably does more good than bad to have them as they were for the aesthetic of the game.

You can still do that, it’s just that each skeleton would have to be from a unique player. All the fix prevents is one person having multiple skeletons.
Also, that SS is from MoP, but I get what you were referencing with it.
It’s probably some bug they don’t want to fix and decided to just remove corpses. Either way I don’t really care
It really needs to be fixed.

The only people complaining about this are the ones who planned to abuse it.
Imagine being made of glass and seeing objects in any arrangement in a video game and shattering. Shameful.

I remember watching a train of random-letter-named identical Orc Warlocks running up the road to Org and gathering in an open area in the city and then just spontaneously dying together leaving their bodies in the form of an advertisement for a gold seller.
Yeah, it was a very ‘Vanilla’ memory but it kind of spoils the whole immersion thing.
