It didn’t take the gold farmers long to realise that in Newcomer Chat they had a chat channel that is region wide. So they can create a toon and have it spam NC without the need to create one for every server.
Newcomer was created to provide a channel so that Guide players can offer advice and help to new players. As such, it generally works very well and the majority of players, both new and guide, behave well, and a lot of help is given to people who need advice or assistance.
But this constant flow of carry adds is very disruptive and as much as I, and many of the other Guides report them, new ones pop up all the time.
Blizzard needs to create some form of filter to catch these people’s ads before they make it to chat. Something like how it works for Global Ignore, which blocks them from appearing to anyone who is in the channel. All they would have to do is create filters to activate and catch these predatory gold farmers and automatically cycle them into the reporting system for investigation.
Global Ignore is better than Badboy which hasn’t been updated in ages. As well as providing a much larger Ignore facility, it also automatically filters and blocks spam and whatever other specific filters you create.
Hello, I see you posted a thread about spammers. I agree! And people wonder why there are hardly any new players in WoW anymore! To a brand new player, they see that garbage, and it immediately looks like a pay-2-win game, haha!
Since I don’t have it installed no, I didn’t know it was updated. The last time I looked at it (which was yes, about a year ago) it hadn’t been touched in ages. After I installed Global Ignore which has just a good a filter system, I have had no need for BB.
They push early patches. It’s also not something that really breaks due to what it does.
It is however highly dependent on how you set it vs plugnplay.
It’s still a good idea to check other addons every now and then just to see what new things or what old things have been updated. Never hurts to look
Do those addons report the spammers or just hide it? If they still just hide it, then it’s like covering up dirty kitty litter with clean kitty litter.
The dirty litter is still there but you can’t see it. It just masks the problem.
I put in the Nc chat “Type /wave to Goroth” to tell someone they need to put the / and then I saw “type /wave to goroth” from them… I was like /facepalm ok put the / in front first lol
I been playing FFXIV for weeks now and havent encountered a single one. Maybe they cracked down on it? I do remember when I played during ARR they had a ton of spammers
