The Complete Tinker Class

I’m sure it does stem from that, but that’s not what I’m saying. It’s the appeal of the class itself that I don’t get. It’s not my style. I’m sure Blizz has thought about it as a class before, and I’d legit be happy for the people that wanted it if they do add it. But given their track record, I’m not sure if Blizz would be able to please the people who do want it. I mean. Look at Void Elves. Clearly, an entire race that probably should have just been introduced as a ranged class. Not saying I don’t like my Void Elf characters but what was the point of the whole void thing if nothing really changes in the end? I started off as a mage and now I’m…a mage with funny hair and a lame excuse for a blinklike spell? That’s it?
So not only do I not get Tinker, but I doubt Blizz would either.

Honestly it’s probably just the representation that they want. People wanted Demon Hunters, they got Demon Hunters, they were kind of a busted mess and cannibalized Warlocks, and here we are.

Imho tinker sounds so boring… everyone can be a tinker with the engineering profession. If they ever release a new class I hope they are more creative than this.

The day that someone can dps a raid boss of a actual tier by just using engineering and no class ability at all, you’ll be right.

But for now, considering that you can’t even do 1% of the required dps with all engineering ability, you’re argument is just so wrong and doesn’t make any sense.

I personally would prefer tinkers , specifically tank mech tinkers run on a scrap system like Gazlowe does in heroes of the storm.

Also there’s a few specific things I want tinkers to have.

  1. Goblin and gnome only, you can make other races through an apprenticeship of getting a gnome/ goblin tinker to max level or 50.

  2. Give them “high jump” ; they use either a jump pack or rocket boots to give them a higher jump than base classes while not intruding on demon hunter double jump fantasy. Also you can tap space to slow fall obviously.

  3. Uses mail armor, ranged weapons and intellect stat but most damage registers as Physical or Fire/electric

  4. The three specs im hoping for is Mech tank, (warcraft 3 goblin alchemist hero unit) alchemist healer and dps needs to be a ranged dps, we’re long overdue a new ranged dps.

I didn’t say you could DPS as an engineer… I was saying we already have the engineering profession so a tinker class doesn’t sound interesting to me. Pretty easy to understand if you read.

Lets not add A Tinker class, because it sounds like a gongshow

So you don’t want tinker as a playstyle because we can be engineer as something useless that you only use from time to time for a few second???

That would be like saying that paladin and priest as a class are useless because some trinket can use light or that mage are useless cause we had azerite arcane ability in bfa…

So yeah its understandable but its still doesn’t make any sense.

you have exceeded your daily reading allotment , emergency system shutdown

It’s okay if you don’t understand, we can’t all be the brightest crayon in the box. :cookie: :milk_glass:

Ok so you don’t have real argument so you decide to start insulting instead…

As you said we can’t all be the brightest crayon in the box.

Pot, meet kettle. You can’t refute their argument so you gotta project.

Good amount of thought and writeup from OP on class concept, but you lost my support when you didn’t include vulpera as an available race option.

Vulpera are very opportunistic survivalists. Primitive perhaps, but very resourceful which is kind of a tinkering thing. None of the elven races are even remotely resourceful except in ways to get more nightwell / sunwell power / mana. Undead are kind of… more death and destruction than constructing something new. They are alchemists, sure… but not really a tech type of race.

Damn, I mean, if that’s how you really feel about all this then go off

This was very well thought out and I truly enjoyed reading it. With each post I see that supports Tinker, I get a bit more excited. I love the passion and creativity!

I look forward to your Bard post!

I just want to add. That over the course of this morning. I read this entire post. I found almost nothing I disagree with.

I love the idea of crossing the healer specialization with the Goblin Alchemist healer from Warcraft 3

More importantly, I think your tank spec idea is really genius.
The concept of a tank that boosts their primary stat (intellect) to get more powerful energy shields and armor is absolutely phenomenal. And I hope beyond hope that this gets added.

Take it from someone who has Mained tank for all their life in WoW. This is genuinely well designed and I would change in a heartbeat.

I think the idea of using melee weapons. But then casing mechanize and being free to use ranged attacks is also genius.

You have given me even more passion to push for this class.

I doubt it since I’ve been spamming about Shaman tanking since MoP and nobody has cared, but I appreciate the sentiment!

A close friend of mine has been spamming for a Shaman tank spec as well.

I understand why it’s a common request, and I’d love to see it.

But I won’t lie to myself. I’m selfish and want tinkers over anything else

the demon hunter showed us in Legion the new gameplay and extremely fast mobility that would be for the future of the new classes in next expansions.

That is why apart from your idea, it would be an example of improving the Tinker and not seeing it as just another caster that stands still while casting your spells without any movement, something more mobile and faster that is superior without having to be a hero class like him DK and DH.

But that’s also the design philosophy that has lead to us getting no new ranged classes. It’s easier to make a fast paced melee than a fast paced range… even Death Knight is faster paced than some ranged classes, and it’s supposed to be a slow, hulking tank archetype. Sometimes something slower is better.
