The community is improving

learn to read. I already have said some of the stuff thats happened. lmao.
and unlike you, i read in here and see what asinine stuff has gotten OTHERS blocked in chat.
Crap like this…

now get out of my notifications or i’ll block you for fun.

Im as far right as it gets without violence, lol.
I cant say Ive been flagged over that yet. Im sure it’d be an abuse / violation of the flag, but with some in this particular community and the crap Ive seen in here and in game, nothing would surprise me.

yeah, this forum is dead. lol.
Ive seen coin collecting forums that are more active than this graveyard.
That can be blamed on flag/report abuse and lack of severe punishments for it, as well as moderators not doing their job of looking at details before spamming the ‘suspended’ button.
At a point, people get tired of a few miserables running the show and go find better places to interact with like minded folk.

DF is sort of reverting from the Legion onward model of M+ reigning supreme and the gogogo crowd infecting everything, though obviously it’ll take quite a few more expansions to bring the community back and build it back up…seeing as it took three whole expansions to destroy the community…I’d say 4-5 to bring it back up to what it was at this rate.

It’s surprisingly easy to destroy and tear down, ever so much exponentially harder to create and improve.

It’s still not FFXIV’s community, but since my return (other than 2 months at the beginning of SL I haven’t played since the end of Legion), I’ve noticed the community in general is significantly less toxic than I remember.

Go to Moon Guard trade chat, the community is definitely not improving, you’re just meeting a few nice people out of the 80,000 god awful ones.

Nah man im still here to lower that bar

Bring it on james cameron

Hmmm there’s a thing with vaping people get called popcorn lung and other things which are just as bad as what cigs can do.

I’d rather hear a lighter click in Discord than the sounds of vaping over Discord any day.

If someone got that offended by your post you have mentioned then they are just feeling really bad about doing it themselves and felt called out for a habit they chose.

The people in Moon Guard trade chat are rarely realm regulars. They’re often just bored no life trolls that pop in to start drama for the lulz. Just like Goldshire, we get a LOT of visiting tourists that seek debauchery in whatever sense they can glean it. That’s why trade and Goldshire are considered quarantine zones in the server.

First you can actually get that just from breathing in some of the stuff they use on microwave popcorn (this is why I make mine the old fashioned way over my stove) and every instance I’ve seen of this happening regarding vaping it’s more related to working within the factory producing them for extended hours than actually ingesting anything to do with them. There’s a reason it’s called “Popcorn Lung” and it isn’t anything to do with a look. It’s an origin, and one that’s happened more in microwave popcorn factory workers than vapers, and you and I can probably both agree there’s more than enough vapers, and they have more than enough frequency to make up for lost time.

Then the earlier scare that started the discussion that upped the smoking age in America was prefaced on faulty information. Yes, teenagers grievously harmed themselves with vape cartridges, but they conveniently left out it came out shortly after with that push the cartridges were ones they were trying to make themselves.

I agree.
I decided to do the WQ in the Nokud area with all the elites and had the plan of picking off the stragglers from the edges of the camp.
Then I spotted a ret pally that was doing the same quest.
I helped her kill a big group she had pulled then she said
“I got mine, how many more do you need?”
I told her I had just start the quest and only had like 2%.
She told me she would stay and help me get it done.
Even helped me take out a couple of the rares near the tents with the dogs.

Ran into a couple of other nice players in the brew dungeon also.
The kill took around 9 seconds and they stayed for a bit to chat.

Very welcome changes to see

Spend a day just queueing Solo Shuffle… you’ll see nothing has changed one bit for people lol

This happened at a microwave popcorn factory near were I used to live in Illinois.
If I recall correctly, it was the “butter” they used. Not sure, but it was some fake butter chemical substitute that caused the issues. Diacetl, or something like that it was called. I can’t remember the name of it really. Been years ago.

Fun Fact: George Burns. Comedian and actor lived to be 100 years old and smoked cigars everyday.

Oh beleive me I am more than well aware of all of it and pl is still very much also a case in vaping as well as other things .

I hear way way more coughing and gagging from vapers more than cig smokers.

I personally couldn’t smoke something that has the potential to explode at any given time if not used properly or cared for properly.

As far a microwaves and popcorn lung that comes chemicals used to flavor microwave popcorn ( which is why I used a kettle and coconut oil for popcorn) as it also comes with chems in vapes.

I seen on average a handful of teenagers in my complex go through at least 6 vapes each on a regular basis compared to my pack a day(not that it’s better) but still 1 of them for example would kill on average 3 new never used vapes in a day.

The jerks and etc are still around, I guess because the season has winded down or they’ve been ostracized enough that they have shut up for a bit.

Different experiences for different people

I agree, not 100%, but still it is a noticeable difference for some. Guess it depends on alot of factors to be “non toxic”.

It sucks seeing all the bs in Trade Chat

Trade chat has basically been unusable for years now, even before the Social Contract came in and emptied out most of the remaining human players.

I would say the RMT copy-pasta spam got worse during Shadowlands, but I don’t really have any hard evidence of this… or perhaps we just “noticed” it more since the Shadowlands content droughts were so brutal and we spent lots of time “standing around” in the capital city (and therefore having trade chat constantly visible)?

RMT “waterfall” copy-pasta spam reigns supreme and is basically 90% of trade chat traffic now, with the other 10% being WTS one-liners from the few real-life/human being players still using the channel

Basically almost all RMT copy-pasta spam now, I’m surprised nothing ever seems to happen to those level 1’s and similar low-level bots since supposedly RMT is against the rules

Maybe I’m old-fashioned, but to me RMT/links to scammy or suspicious websites is more harmful than someone posting an unpopular opinion or off-topic banter in a chat channel… but apparently Blizzard is fine with the RMT stuff populating the channel. It’s definitely an interesting observation seeing the “same” level 1 bots (same exact name, same exact server) still posting the “same” RMT copy-pasta messages months and months later after you report them

Agreed.

It takes either no comment or something positive to make a lasting impact. And guess what, it’s not hard to do.

I will say that the social contract has yet to fully curb some of the worst in the channels; though a lot of it does stem from known trolls, there’s still occasional very hateful remarks directed at different minorities.

I’ve seen it get better, yes, but it has a ways to go.
