The community has made me afraid to heal

I tried doing it but theres so much toxicity towards people KEEPING YOU ALIVE…ive been thinking about just switching to dps or tank because its becoming borderline abuse. What could we do to make healers be more liked by our fellow players so that this shortage ends?

The tank shortage is worse and nobody has changed their behaviour so I doubt it will change.

My main characters for 20 years have been a healer or a tank. When I came back to WoW after a 10-year hiatus and went into my 1st dungeon, I was like screw this won’t be playing a healer or tank in group content, so I have stayed out of that content since Shadowlands release. The toxicity I experienced, and the fast pace made me uncomfortable and because I like to keep some mana in reserve for oh crap moments, I got the healers should be dpsing and constantly on the verge of OOM as we don’t stop to allow healers time to regenerate.

having tanked for about a decade, I can tell you that experienced healers don’t care about that stuff.

you give them lip, they let you die. eventually, you learn to either respect the healers or leave and play wi… by yourself.

i let people die as tank. if they felt like pulling, i didn’t get in their way. their anger was music to my ears.

I got into heroic raid with one of my alt. Tank died under 2 secs on council. Healers get the blame. Its rather hilarious when the raid team is new to heroic.

You could try healing in PvP people like having healers there.

We need new leadership at the wow level. They have butchered the game so badly for everyone. It’s not supposed to be like this . People should enjoy their roles classes. But what you’re seeing is a trickle down from unhealthy workplace it’s naturally gonna trickle into the player community.

We need new leaders. I wish people would see that

we cant keep blaming the designers for the toxicity of the player-inhabited gameworld.

WE are doing this, not them. This is us.

every single thing that sends you to jail irl is being done in the AH when the system allows it.

It’s hard to be toxic to healers when like 90% of the time it’s the fault of the dps for either standing in something or not using sufficient defensives.

Like, I can and will call out a DH who has used Blur 3 times in 15 minutes and kicked exactly 1 important cast during that time if he even tries to take a jab at my healing. :dracthyr_hehe_animated:

Also, like, swirlies or frontals just kill people. Get hit by something that’s entirely avoidable and it’ll often be more than your entire health pool, and it’s not like they can go “uhh healer why didn’t you give me a massive external in anticipation of me messing up and standing in that pool of lightning”.

If he’s freaking out over dungeons,I wouldn’t suggest moving to PVP. Lol

They’re somewhat similar.

“please kick scary cast”

“please wall”.

“Freaking out” is a little much. I am confident, i genuinely think im one of the best if not the best player to set foot inside a dungeon but thats not what this is about. Dungeon runs need to be PRESERVED FOR HEALING and not for some silly “aggro” mechanic…ridiculous.

Absolutely. Go get 'em, tiger.

I always thank my healers - a good healer is worth their weight in gold.

The thing is, as a healer, you decide whether or not the group progresses. So next time you come up against toxic pugs, stop healing the group, laugh when they wipe, and then bail.

Download elitism helper addon to rub in the faces of your dps and tank how they suck.

I mostly heal in PvP. Epic battlegrounds are actually pretty chill, and fun to heal.
