This is the first time I’ve actually been able to collect stuff effectively, and it’s still not enough. In old raids like WOTLK, since they have 10 man modes, it hardly drops anything to begin with. Even with the collection event, it’s still not enough loot since again, it only drops a few items for legacy. I’ve had no luck in ICC10 at all, some bosses drop 1 item.
The real problem is they put this event in July, while throwing several other events at us at the exact same time so we have to pick and choose what we want to do, which I think is really unfair. So we have a choice of time walking, Loot goblin, collecting mounts and mogs, or wow story. Guess what we’re picking obviously?
It’s honestly such bad game design and planning on their part, which is really disappointing to me. It’s for one month, such a short amount of time, while they threw so many other things at us
The real issue are lockouts combined with very low chance drops, which Blizzard has shown little to no appetite for changing, even in decades old content.
The event is a ‘positive’ in that for the month, the very low drop chance is slightly increased, so players have a slightly higher chance of getting items.
But it does nothing to change the very player unfriendly way Blizzard handles old items in old instances.
As far as too much to do - right now they are tossing anything and everything (mostly recycled or low effort stuff mind you) at players in an attempt to keep them subbed at the dead end of a season.
That’s the genius. They can bring it back with Winds of Change or the experience buff at end of expansions to tell you there’s a new reason to play. And for birthdays and special occasions, like anniversary events.
You need to be farming 25H ICC hon, that’s why you’re not getting anything. And you will get SO FREAKING MUCH, if you have auto-loot on, I suggest you turn it off & just grab the gold. Let the Postmaster send you the rest, or if you have a chanter, you can de everything that’s not grey & your bags will be lighter.
It comes across to me as a time conflict issue. Even though it is summer, people still have jobs and other life commitments that limit their play time and right now, there are a lot of choices as to what to do. Even though I’m retired due to disability, I still have limited time to play because we do not have adequate cooling in our home right now and my corner gets to 80+ degrees F, which is too hot for anything other than the Jigsaw puzzle FB game (or forums) until several hours after sunset.
I am sacrificing the greedy goblin mogs for more time running ICC, that doesn’t feel good. some of those recolored anniversary sets are nice, but I have a compulsion to get Invincible.
Now let’s say in your ideal scenario they only do one event, the collector event. What about someone who doesn’t care about transmogs or mounts? What about someone who already has the mounts they want?
Those people would have nothing to do now.
This goes back to what I said above Blizz will never make everyone happy, and there are some people that will never be satisfied.
