The biggest hurdle to me playing this game currently is the fact that I have to either get invited to, or form my own, group for M+ content. The only other option for me to get vault loot (without raiding or PvPing, which I really don’t wanna do) is to spam Heroics or Timewalking for a mediocre gear reward.
Meanwhile…Delves will give me something I can do completely on my own, whenever I want, with no pressure or expectation. No downtime to form a group, no silly rating system, no meta to worry about…just content that I can do as I wanna do it, without missing out on the fun of opening my weekly vault.
I sincerely feel like the recent shift in design philosophy starting in Dragonflight has been wonderful for the game. I was a hater for years, but I’ve been extremely impressed by the direction of the game design lately.

Same. For me, it’s not going to be a solo mode, but it’ll fill the hole in this game that is competitive 2-3 person PvE content. No more pugging randos who will be mean to my friends and ruin our fun.
So many couples or small groups play, having a group of 5 close friends all interested in the same video game and online at the same times seems rare.
Also none of us will have to heal, yeehaw! We can all play whatever role we want I think.

Very much agreed. There are weeks where I just don’t want to talk to people.

They are pretty boring. They will DOA in my opinion.
Blizzard just doesn’t know how to make fun content anymore. All they can make these days is just repetitive grinds that they can keep recycling each patch. Delves are generic dungeons that scale up. They get boring real fast.

I hope delves are great more stuff for people to do the better for game health.
If its close to what POE did with delves ill be excited

How is this any worse than M+? I’m happy to have an alternative, that’s the main thing. I like running dungeons in theory, but actually dealing with other players and getting invited to a group has been frustrating for years.

They are just worse versions of dungeons. Blizzard just doesn’t have the talent to make fun content anymore. Even the new dungeons and raids just are boring.

Oh, okay, you’re one of those guys. Makes sense. Sorry for engaging, I wasn’t aware.

I have my concerns with them but they are a form of content that is clearly not made for me. I hope you find what you are looking for with them and enjoy them.
I think casual players are going to get bored with them fast. It is basically just Torghast 2.0
The WoW devs are trying way too hard to inject Diablo style content into the game. I want hand crafted content like Black Rock Depths dungeon. All the delves just feel super generic.
You will see, they are boring.

If this is the way you feel about the game, what are you doing here? I know if I felt that way I’d be long gone.
Why play a game you don’t like?

Do you know what was bad about Torghast? The aesthetic of Torghast was bad. The rewards were a bunch of bothersome currencies and “systems” that you had to apply elsewhere in order to make use of them. Torghast itself was a mandatory system that everybody got tired of because they had to do it.
That’s another thing about Delves, and it’s what I said earlier in the topic: I can do them when I want to, however I want to. If I’m bored, I just won’t do one. Which is kinda the same as M+, but doing M+ is a lot more involved and not as easy to squeeze in whenever the mood strikes.

I thought you weren’t engaging with me?
I’m sorry for engaging with you as if you were a normal poster. I just had to adjust my mindset and realize that I’m dealing with a certified Classic Andy™

Ah yes, people love to sling this insult at people that don’t praise the game.
I’ve been here since 2004, and TWW is going to be another dud. Delves are just another attempt for Blizzard to find a way to create M+ style content for casual players.
The truth is, WoW’s end game loop is just boring, and has been for some time. The current team just lacks vision, they are too worried about creating time sinks and repetitive grinds to keep players engaged instead of making fun content.
Blizzard lost so much talent the last 5 years, and it shows in every game they make.
Diablo 4 was the most soulless ARPG I have ever played. OW2 is a mess, and WoW hasn’t been good since Legion.
Like I said, Delves are just another product of a development that lacks talent, or is being mandated to make soulless repetitive grinds.
Have you played Delves yet? I have, and they are just straight boring.

Seems to be interesting enough to keep WoW in the top of the MMO market. It’s not even bad enough to get the folks who swear it’s so bad to leave.

For many of the things available in Shadowlands, the only mandatory thing about Torghast was a few rescue missions. The rest was optional depending on what content you wanted to pursue.

Delves are such a huge deal, and are going to be my frickin life, seconded only by the potential for “alts as followers” which would put dungeons in my regular rotation as well!
Just the idea of owning one’s time for relevant rewards is gamechanging! No one HAS to tolerate abuse just to spend “efficient” progression time any more! It’s not even all about the soloabilty for me, it’s just as much about a group smaller than 5 having a relevant, entire lane of the PVE endgame that doesn’t necessarily deal in “competitive clickables” in world quests!

I’m looking forward to the collectibles it brings, and not needing the baggage of group content
Me too. I love Classic, and I agree with some of what you’re saying. But the current reality is that the game design is improving, and I no longer think it’s “impossible” for the current team to make fun content. Dragonflight has proven that, given enough support and some time, they can actually improve the systems and philosophies that govern the overall design.
TWW is another big step in the right direction, and I am more than willing to praise them for that. Especially with regard to talent tree refinement and spec improvement. Affliction Warlock in particular is going in a direction that I love. Fewer mandatory buttons, less silliness in general.
But…the game is way better now than it was 5 years ago. Unless you’re trying to say that BfA was some kind of high standard to live up to?
