The Classic Plague

So I heard people in Vanilla were very helpful. If that’s true, this is not that community. This community is worse then League of Legends mixed with Overwatch and a sprinkle of Call of Duty in it’s prime. Elitism is rampant, people don’t help struggling strangers. This is not a community that this game was built up to have. If you are pointing out every little thing someone does ‘wrong’, then you don’t belong here. People in this game should be understanding, but I have seen none of that. If you want this community to be better, don’t defend these people, call them out. Don’t allow them to be toxic to others for small things, or hopefully at all.

Thank you for your time, and enjoy WoW Classic.

I feel like you’re probably not being honest, nor sincere.

There are dicks in every community. There are nice people in every community.

Without knowing more about what happened to you, there’s not much we can say about it.

In classic there is far more player interaction though and it can be a positive experience if you want it to be.

Dang, what server are you playing on? I’ve been on Myzrael and the community on the Alliance side there has been awesome so far. Glad I didn’t up on your server! :open_mouth:

The entire game was gifted to each and every retail player. Did you honestly expect to get pure vanilla community as a result?

I havent had this issue much. Only negative thing I seen but rarely. Someone ask a question related to quest or other. Someones response is either google it, Wowhead it or learn to internet. stuff like that. But everyone has been nice to me so far.

But of course I am on a RP server bloodsail Buccanears.

If you’re curious, anytime you make a mistake in a dungeon, there will often be people who will go straight to being pissed off in a moments notice. Also the amount of elitism hurts, both from the in game players and the forums.

seconded. Nothin’ but great folks so far.

It may be because the people that rolled on Old Blanchy had no qualms rolling fresh or re-rolling on a newer low pop server. I equate them more with a go-with-the-flow attitude.

I’m on Mankrik, if that’s any help.

I, too, have never experienced The Internet before World of WarCraft Classic.
It’s very upsetting. I require validation constantly.

The problem is that when vanilla launched, people were already [mostly] behaving themselves because every MMO community before it was founded on tight-knit relationships, strong teamwork, and polite decorum. Now, the opposite is true and it’s going to take a minute for people to learn how to behave themselves again.

not everyone in vanilla was helpful and friendly. Here is the thing. Servers were smaller so if some guy was a jerk to everyone, no one would play with him (when you only have 3k players concurrently, half that or so depending on your faction, you got to know most people). So it was kind of self regulating. There were still elitists (hence the site elitistjerks), there were still ninja looters, ninja mob tagging, griefing, etc. It happened.

I can only speak for myself but so far I would say Most people who run pass me toss a buff, most people who are waiting on a named mob will invite me. Yeah i’ve run into jerks, but so far the experience is fine. Also keep in mind there are way more people fighting over limited resources as they level then there were in vanilla

not my experience at all on my server. everyone has been super helpful. if they saw me dying due to an overpull they rushed in to help or kept me healed up until the mobs were dead. sorry you’re on a crap server.

I’ve had a ninja in my group already, and another flip out at the mere suggestion that he might be a little on the low side for an instance, but I’ve had countless others join me for quests, invite me to groups, and run the same dungeon on repeat for hours.

All I can say is that there are all breeds out there, but my experience has been that the good far outweigh the bad.

Then again, we know the game really well now, after 15 years with it. So, maybe OP actually is doing a lot wrong and helpful players are just trying to help him be better, which he’s interpreting as toxic behavior.

I’m sure the truth lies somewhere between the extremes.

it was like this in vanilla too.

I have run into a ton of very helpful people. I even had a couple of groups invite me so they could help me complete quests because I was lost.

Sure there are rude and inconsiderate people, but those are few and with no cross-realm, they are becoming known.

The fact that the majority of time I am buffed when passing people is a great example of how friendly the community is.
