Didn’t enough people enjoy them to keep them going? they were one of my favorite things ever implemented into the game, sure be nice to see them return, anyone else wish they were a thing again?
Blizzard does not carry system across expansions because it just makes catching up longer and having to farm old content in order to do the new.
Agreed. Class halls actually added to your class fantasy.
Class Halls, garrisons, the ole days of Shattrath Aldors/Scryers… even if people love them, and can still revisit/progress them (some exceptions), variety is the spice of life. If I knew between expansions that I would be looking forward to the same system as I have dealt with for the 2yrs prior… I dont know if that would be an enticement to play the new xpac.
Blizz went on an entire TED talk about class/spec identity and fantasy in Legion only to immediately drop that very concept the moment Legion was done. It was one of the things the players absolutely loved. All in all, classic Blizz
There’s nothing stopping them from doing similar class-based stuff in the future. Off the top of my head, the only one that was Legion-specific was the Hunter lodge in Highmountain, so it’s not as if they couldn’t come up with a reason to revisit them.
I’m just looking forward to seeing where Dalaran will show up next!
Loved all the class specific content in Legion.
Though I doubt they will continue it they often because every quest chain becomes multiplied by 13.
many of the class quest chains were fun , like the rogue one where you had to stealth into your own factions city and gank the auctioneer, the quest chains and getting the class mounts were great over all , mingling with the other faction was fun, having so many people that play the same class in 1 room to inspect was good, ya i liked them , easy to update these places.
Blizzard has a knack for creating new and interesting systems… which inevitably get abandoned rather then developed or iterated on (sometimes between patches!) and this has led to an absolute graveyard of abandoned gameplay ideas including (but not limited to)
Island expeditions
Torghast
Class halls
the farm
The garrison
azerite armor
essences
corruptions
covenants
Korthia research
Torment shards
Legendary crafting
4 different mission tables.
I’m sure theres more, but my hope is that Blizz stops trying to re-invent the wheel every couple of months with borrowed power systems and so far they’ve done a pretty good job; Dragon flying is popular enough I think that they won’t ditch it, and the crafting changes made them far more rewarding then at pretty much any time in the game’s history.
The monk order hall sent you back to Pandaria so it’s not like they can’t send you back to previous places.
no doubt , if they could just keep the good from these expansion and put into 1 we would have a hit.
Yet people asks and are applauding class/race that doesn’t make any sense whatsoever.
Has nothing to do with my point. If there’s an in lore reason that someone takes up a certain class, there is a reason for them. We’ve gotten entire races for lesser reasons.
Like the one that hurts the most that they abandoned was island expeditions; you had a scramble gameplay mode that encouraged players to work fast and co-ordinate before the opposition showed up which shocked me the first time or two that I saw it in action since this was the smartest AI I’d ever seen in a game since they were consistently behaving like players.
I saw so much potential in that aspect of it and how blizz could have utilized that system for all kinds of stuff; trying to do a dungeon while you are leveling but there are no tanks around? Plug in an AI that knows how to respond to mechanics. Want to really surprise your players with some bosses in a mega dungeon? Plug in the AI to keep things feisty. Want to do a legit rare hunt? Plug in an AI that knows to hide.
So much potential, but outside of compstomp it was just… abandoned.
One has very little to do with the other…
Races aren’t a monolith, they’re made up of individuals. If some Lightforged Draenei gets special dispensation to study and harness demonic/fel energy (or does it in secret out of arrogance/curiosity), there’s nothing lore-breaking about that. And it has nothing to do with warlocks as a whole. Since most of their story seems to revolve around them being belligerent outcasts who are more concerned with power than the rules anyway.
the classic totem quest chains for shamans were truly quests. you had to go, like, everywhere to find mentors, gather resources, interact with the various elementals, etc.
As a warrior, you had to earn your stances. I always liked Fray Island.
Getting bear form as a nightelf druid and learning the lessons of the bear was really cool. although the first time getting aquatic form was an ordeal for me. but I eventually got it.
something was lost with all of that
priest quest chain was good also
Class halls should have been made part of the class leveling experience going forward (Imagine being introduced to your spec this way). Blizz could also periodically add class quests.
Could even integrate them with current content via dailies or something. So much potential.
Who knows what Blizz will do with the rumored world revamp?
i thought they were pretty neat but i think they were just meant to be tied to Legion, like how garrison were just meant to be tied to WoD.
If they were to create player housing a la ESO n let you bring that kinda stuff to your own instanced home that would be ideal. Or even just update both the garrison to allow more personalization n also update the class halls that would be neat at least.
I miss the Hunter class hall
