It’s not a 20th anniversary every expansion.

Doesn’t matter. It is all the same Hamster wheel… watch:

BfA:

  • Expac starts people grind for gear their own way
  • Things are timegated until 8.1
  • People finish the “campaign” and head strait to heroics
  • People finish heroics and head to mythics
  • People grind til they cap and have to wait for season 2
  • More things show up in 8.2 also timegated, but less intensely
  • Gearing is MUCH easier and alts are almost capped to their main
  • 8.2.2 everything unlocks and people are bored waiting around til 9.05

SL:

And the same thing for DF… and now in TWW. This doesn’t count the middle step where most progression players unsub for 3-4 months til the next season.
