Once you have Gilded-level dungeons/raids on farm, it becomes very hard to get Runed Crests. Add more to Delves or something!
You get runed once you cap on gilded though.
If you’re at the gilded cap, you begin to get runed crests from sources that reward gilded.
This continues all the way down the chain until you hit weathered cap at which point you just stop getting crests until the next week.
It’s pretty frustrating at different stages, there have been plenty of times where i have had heaps of gilded and gear items that need upgrading, but i had no runed to get me up to the point where i could use my gilded.
Oh honestly I didn’t even notice it. I just hit the point on my alt and that point is still a little far out for me, I have like 300 more gilded crests to earn. I just want another way to efficiently farm them other than carrying low keys
If you aren’t going to hit the crest cap then just downgrade the gilded. Cap is going to be removed in 3-4 weeks anyhow.
I think in the prior seasons we got to send this stuff to our alts. I’m not sure if I remember right. If so, then there will be changes to make it easier in an upcoming patch.
How do you do this?
The crest transmutation vendor standing right next to gear upgrade npc let’s you exchange crests.
the whole idea of throttling resources, whether stones, crests, renown, etc, is just ridiculous.
if i want to grind, let me do it. can you imagine if there were a daily/weekly limit on the number of herbs you could gather? oi…
i won’t go back to the time when I farmed alterac valley for honor or silithus mobs for rep for the earthstrike trinket - those were the worst grinds for hours and hours for days and days…
but the idea of throttling the resources that you get by engaging in regular content, like dungeons, is foolish.
it “forces” you to move on to your alts if you want to feel like you are progressing in the game.
I have been trying to focus on one main toon this season, my VDH. i have gotten to where I am running +8/9 and want to push to +10. I pretty much have the gear for it already, but i haven’t yet capped my runed crest gear yet so I feel a bit stuck.
I would be fine spamming +6s until i got my runed crest achievment. that would actually help people in those keys since I would be an overgeared tank in the content.
when we only had to farm valor points, this is what people did. overgeared toons looked for bonus valor runs for content. it was a way of paying for a carry, more or less, that didn’t involve paying with gold. everyone won.
however, the throttiling system discourages that very behavior. unfortunate.
Player might look at it as ridicilous, but it is very carefully thought out system to stretch gearing to longer period of time and keep players subbed for longer.
It works exactly as raid lockouts from vanilla and dailies in MoP.
while I see your point, I think these comparisons are problematic.
in vanilla, you earned gear. it didn’t get upgraded afterwards. gearing itself was problematic since raid loot was distributed by some form of system designed by the guild or raid leader.
MoP dailies are even worse than it might seem. it took something like 2-3 hours to do all of the chores for one toon in order to eventually get the rep needed for gear to then progress. it is sort of the opposite of the current system.
you had to spend so much time on your main that you had no time for your alts. this situation actually killed my guild at the time. we were a bunch of altaholics who brought whatever they wanted to raid. the dailies/reputation/gearing time requirements killed that approach.
today, however, the resource throttling encourages an army of alts.
Well, I guess they recognized the popularity of alts and made that throttling accordingly.
It is either alts or touch grass until next reset, final effect is the same as was in vanilla.
You can farm delves for runed crests, you can go from 0 to cap on runed in a day if you do a lot of delves because it doesn’t need to be bountiful.
Right? They’re pretty quick too. Love the crocodile one in Streetside Sluice.
