The Changes to Mythic Plus will destroy player retention

I’m sure this subject has been done to death, but this season of mythic plus is absolute GARBAGE. I mean I took a break during season II of dragonflight and honestly this is much worse. The changes to the stops, the absolutely ridiculous scaling, I don’t even enjoy trying to pug keys. Nerfing tanks? Are you guys smoking crack? Upping trash mob count?! WHY?! I can’t think of a single person playing mythic plus thinking “god I wish I could kill more trash mobs!”

Whoever is in charge of deciding the direction of M+ for this season seriously needs to get canned, or at least get benched for a season. This season of M+ absolutely sucks.

Honestly, the stops change and trash count changes are the worst. The tank changes at least made healing a bit more engaging, although the way they did it isnt great.

I got a wild hunch. Players are just going to keep logging in and playing no matter what changes Blizzard makes.

I actually think upping the trash mob count was an attempt at making tank routing easier. If they were gonna do that they definitely needed to nerf trash mob hp a ton more though.

I’m good with needing to kill more trash if it dies quicker and makes things easier on especially people new to the tank role since so much of the keys success relies on their route. More trash requirements means less routing options, and therefore less points of error for the tank who already has a pretty stressful job.

I mean the other easy fix is to have a lot of peripheral optional mobs before the boss like last boss of ara kara or city of threads or even dawnbreaker so you can quickly pick up the missing %.

Obviously not in a place where they’re easy to overaggro when fighting a boss or pulling packs, but just around the corner if the tank misses a few.

I shelved my tank this season when I saw the changes to white damage (SL), tank survivability (BFA) and health pools (DF). It’s like they took the worst changes over the past 3 expansions and meshed them all together. I thought I could hang tough with my DPS but I just don’t have the time to learn the nuances of the dungeons. Since the nuances and patterns start mattering at level 7, it puts me in a weird spot. I cancelled my annual membership with the tank changes and I’m gonna check out of this season in about 3 weeks. At least this time I’m paying as I go and will save some money!

The percent change did make tank routing easier. However some percent changes are a bit crazy (necrotic wake basically assumes you need to clear nearly all the trash in the first room.

I’m (as a tank) happy with the routing changes. It’s not nearly as punishing. That said, I miss healers having fun. Unless you play a shaman, the healer can end up in a SOL position during pulls. That poison mob in city of echoes comes to mind.

Not sure how they balanced tanks so well (outside of brewmaster) and messed up so badly with healers.

Bro just wants to kill bosses. The game is about challange dude. Adapt or like you said, just leave. Enjoy the journey, not the destination.

I guess it’s back to raiding…

Its mind boggling that in a scaling game mode they decided to get ride of scaling and just toss the community into hared keys lol. But that seems to be what happens when they listen to the vocal minority.

Maybe diablo 4 is more suited to your playstyle where you destroy everything in 2 spells. Just a thought

Sorry to :poop: in your cereal, but your type of whinger are the vocal minority.

You don’t see too many posts praising Blizzard for whatever changes they make to the game because they’re too busy enjoying themselves, so all you see are the skill checked players posting their feelings 10000 times per character.

First it was Delves, Blizzard adding solo challenging content and your type didn’t like that it wasn’t a loot pinata so you “all” (vocal minority) had a massive dummy spit over it, and now that M+ has been changed to cut out useless pad content that did nothing but reinforce bad player behavior it’s the same complaining.

Oh cool, the fake hardcore players are here to tell everyone else they should not be able to enjoy content. That always works out well for wow lol. 0/10 post, do better then terrible insults.

I’m over the stop change already, it feels like one of the old bad affixes that made me get tired of the week but now it’s every week

You can enjoy it, just get good instead of expecting the hand out difficulty that was DF M+.

Me sitting here greatful they made delves. As a solo player since bfa, m+ and raiding heroic and mythic has meant nothing to me.

Im sure you are getting carried in your +4’s while telling everyone else to get good lol.

I look at it with two questions/things on my mind.

  1. Do I play the content not only repeatedly, but more than I “have to” because I enjoy it regardless of the rewards being slim to none?

or

  1. Do I play the content at a bare minimum because I’m not having fun, but I want the rewards so we do what we do for the sake of the grind?

This season is #2 for me for Mythic+. I’m already at a point where it’s quickly becoming not worth the struggle nor the rewards that drop at the end of the dungeon. The weekly cache… I’ll stomach that, so I’ll get 8 clears of relevant content for the sake of the cache, and then I nope out of the content for the rest of the week. Not every season has been like that for me. Whether that’s because there’s something wrong with the season, tastes change, etc… I’m not sure yet, but I think the best way to say it for me personally is to say that I’ll do the required 8 for the cache, but instead of repeatedly grinding +7s for the chance at upgrades at the end past the required 8 clears for the cache, I’d rather take my chances pug raiding heroic Nerub’ar Palace this season. It used to be the other way around for me in previous seasons in the sense that I barely if ever stepped into a pug raid at all and just did Mythic+ a lot.

Normally id disagree, i think the scaling is great. I love that its harder to push to 10s, and that the gap is bigger. Prior seasons id do a few +2s and then jump to 7s once i had mechanics down and a couple item levels, but the changes to trash and stuff, awful. I love the “half new dungeons and half old ones” even though i really wish SL wasnt part of the “old” rotation already, feels lazy, but scaling was enough of a difficulty change without also adding more things to kill with weaker tanks, in the same time frame. At least they fixed SoB?
