The changes are here!

Called it

Not sure what beta feedback they had that led to this misguided choice, but as people have been pointing out for the past 3 days, this change is garbage.

It may not affect raid balance, but raiding isn’t the only activity in the game. It sucks for solo, 5 man and PvP content. It sucks any time you’re a bear or cat as a resto druid in PvE or PvP and want to quickly cast WG then shift back. It sucks anytime you’re trying to weave damage in any type of content as a resto druid as you’ll now be spending a lot of time slowly casting this spell instead of spending one global on it and moving on to another action.

The Furor/HotW swap also seems to be from a purely feral perspective as it hurts resto and balance druids who now have no useful talent on feral t1 to pick to get to feral swiftness.

The lacerate change also sucks for a hybrid situation where someone not speced in feral is doing anything in bear form.

It’s really sad that you had 3 days of negative feedback about the datamined changes and did nothing at all but post the patch notes in the beta forum quietly while saying you plan on making no changes until the raids open, which is apparently the only content you plan to balance for in Forever (so much for the world being the main character).

And they are terrible.

It’s a good change. Wild growth not having a cast time is silly. Being the same cast time as chain heal and PoH is perfect.

agree.

to be clear they said their plan is to make a large tuning pass after they have “sufficient” data from characters beyond level 30. So really it depends on how long it takes for them to get how ever much sufficient data is.

Having classes play similar in that way is the opposite of what id like to do when playing out different classes. Rdruid lost alot of flavor is gonna be a regrowth spam bot. Def not what i look for when playing a druid. Lets just give everyone 1 hot 1 aoe casted heal same utility and buffs while we are at it.

I appreciate the extra threat on Bear but I really don’t like losing Berserk just to get lacerate earlier lol.

I generally agree with you. But aoe healing needs to not be easy to do.

I kinda want them to go back to 1.12 talent trees now. Just add 1-2 changes for each spec and call it a day lol.

Whats hard about chain heal and poh lol? Or any of it for that matter lmao. Its about a classes flavor and how it feels to play.

If we want AoE healing to not be easy we gotta change the other abilities that already do it instantly lmao. Maybe Wild Growth will be worth it, but I don’t see it really being that good at it’s job or that impressive as a capstone.

I don’t mean “its hard to use” I mean it needs to be a commitment to sit there and hit on top of being mana draining.

wild growth was insanely high hps that was instant cast. No other class had anything that strong. It was undeniable WG needed to be nerfed. The cast time was the only viable nerf you could do.

If you nerf the healing/scaling, then you never press it. only Rejuv. If you increase the mana cost, it is no longer worth using. It had to be a cast time.

Holy shock aoe requires set up and knock down.
Prayer of mending is one target at a time and randomly jumps.
Tranquility is a 3-5 min cd and a channel.
Holy nova HPS is very low

What other instant aoe healing is there?

So u remove gift of the earth mother and make it to where regrowth is the best spell to cast in most cases? Pretty hard flop there tbh. Wouldve been better just removing wg in all honesty.

Did you not play vanilla resto druid?
Resto druid has 3 builds it can lean in to. Regrowth being the best only happens with high crit gear and after mana has been solved. Regrowth as your primary spell is a late-stage playstyle.

Vanilla druid left 20 patches ago. Regrowth is the most efficient heal in the game.

Okay good luck with spamming regrowth early on.

Youll see man. Numbers nerfs wouldve been completely fine. This completely changed the gameplay and made it alot worse than what they originally had in mind lol. 100% downgrade.

Except at the end of the PoH cast, the entire potency of the spell is delivered and applied.

Wild growth is not a direct heal… All it’s doing is applying HoTs which then takes additional time to tick out.

It was completely appropriate for wild growth to be casted faster than PoH, because it’s not a direct heal.

They already starting to do that anyway unfortunately. Their fix for classes crying low APM or problematic playstyles is to add a ~8 sec CD instant ability. Shifting Power for cats, Shank now for rogue (just better version of shifting power), Primal Bite, Holy Strike for pally and Ice Lance for mage.

The complete 180° turn in class design with just two days left before launch is honestly very concerning…

You introduce fun, iconic abilities from future expansions, only to turn around two days before launch and say “Oh, by the way guys we’re removing a bunch of these because of our design philosophy and some other excuses we just pulled out of our asses. But hey, here are some damage percentage buffs to make up for it!”

I thought the whole point of this project was to build upon Classic WoW by taking what actually worked in later expansions and bringing back iconic abilities that made classes more fun and engaging, while preserving the Classic feel.

Instead, it feels like we’re going backwards, stripping away interesting gameplay mechanics and replacing them with boring numerical adjustments.

And making such drastic design changes just 48 hours before launch doesn’t exactly inspire confidence in the direction of the game.

They do keep telling us to take our time. I thought it was to enjoy the journey not because class design still isn’t finished. I guess druid will go through 20 reworks by the time I hit 60.

Spamming regrowth is not peak druid gameplay blizzard. At this po8nt your sandbagging your own game. Was this gonna kill retail if it felt good to play or something?
