The change to Warrior xmog, and other odd Blizz fails

I’m a hardcore collector. Top10 in my cluster for every category possible: Achvs, pets, toys, mounts, xmog. You name it, I gots it. It’s a fun part of the game for me.

So as I’m crossing things off my list, I notice something interesting.

In Handynotes, there is an icon for every rare mob, but if you mouse over that icon, it will show you everything that mob drops, and there’s a highlighted section for “unique” xmog items, etc.

I notice that for basically every rare mob, I have every xmog … EXCEPT … bows, guns, and xbows. I understand RNG, but across EVERY.SINGLE rare mob, you’re saying that I have every xmog… but not a single gun, bow, xbow? There’s no way.

Warriors SHOULD be able to learn/be eligible for these drops. Why aren’t they dropping?

And then this happens…

I decided to farm the “Rattling Box of Chains” toy from Torghast. I’m mindlessly farming away when I notice the vendor in Torghast sells 4 xmog that I never picked up in SL. “Ashen Staff, Ashen Crossbow; Ebon Mawsworn Staff, Ebon Mawsworn Crossbow.” But it says my Warrior can’t purchase any of these items, they’re “locked.” That’s all it says.

So I get on my Hunter. Go to Torghast…

And now I can buy the Ashen Staff and Ashen Crossbow. But I still can’t buy the Ebon Mawsworn versions! Not even on a Hunter.

I just submitted a ticket… and the response is “Warrior SHOULD be able to buy them, and in fact, nothing should be locked from the Torghast vendor. No requirement is necessary.” But then offers no further support.

Does anyone know what’s going on?? Even on my Hunter, why could I purchase one set and not the other? (yes, I had enough Phantasma)

Those Torghast transmogs can be purchased by any class, but are often locked. I’ve bought a few, but I’m not sure if it’s entirely random what’s available, or if specific ones are tied to certain wings or floors or bosses.

Checking Wowhead comments confirms my confusion.

Edit: Seems adamant vault vendors may have a higher chance for the rarer ones, and running L13+.

First and foremost… my Hunter can’t even purchase the crossbow. Something is OBVIOUSLY wrong…

I think I know what you’re talking about, this must be two different things.

There seems to be two different sets of items. A “random” selection of loot, and a “basic” set of loot.

The Ashen and Ebon Mawsworn versions I’m describing are not random.

I ran a lv16 Upper Reaches on both chrs… NUMEROUS times. I was farming the Box of Rattling Chains, it took 25-30 runs and those items were available from the vendor EVERY TIME.

They’re not random.

You are right that there ARE some things they sell that ARE random… but the four I’ve listed are not random. They’re always there.

And they’re not in the Adamant Vaults. I was speed running, never had a chance for AV. This is just any basic wing of Torghast. They all have the same vendor, they all sell the same four things.

edit: Same TWO things. So, why can I buy the Ashen versions on my Hunter, but not the Ebon Mawsworn versions??

The thing with the Torghast cosmetics is that the vendors are supposed to only sometimes have one or two for sale. AFAIK they’re programmed to always have the items on hand, just most of them are locked and hidden by default, and a bug is making it so the “hidden” part isn’t working.

Correct, whether the cosmetic can be purchased is rng. Most of the time it will be locked. If you find a vendor with the item unlocked, any class with enough currency can buy it and learn the appearance for your warband.

It’s annoying and not very clear but it’s working as intended as far as I can tell. :melting_face:

No, it’s not.

Even after posting all those links (which I also looked up), you apparently didn’t really read them.

Every one of them said “the items were there, they purchased them.”

What you’re saying is … kind of two things, only one of which is accurate.

1> In that last post, you’re saying whether or not you can purchase the item is RNG. This is not true. It should be obviously not true… if an item is on a vendor, you should just be able to purchase it, unless some restriction is in place (rep, renown, etc). Even the CSR I spoke with confirmed this: there is no reason I shouldn’t be able to purchase this xmog.

2> In a previous post, you mentioned how these vendors SHOULD appear as RNG and their loot table is also RNG. That part is true.

Now… maybe the fact the vendor is ALWAYS THERE is part of the bug? Or the fact it keeps trying to sell me the same 4 items? Or that I could buy 2 of the items (but not the other 2) from a ranged-class, even though my Warrior should also have been able to buy them?

All things to question.

But “ability to purchase an item that is currently in the vendor’s inventory” is NOT rng. If it’s there, you should be able to buy it. Assuming, of course, you have enough Phantasma.

The Torghast part of this seems to just be an annoying bug, but it’s overshadowing the fact that ALL ranged weapons seem bugged for Warriors.

Even in retail, they’re not dropping for me.

According the CSR, they aren’t.

But it doesn’t matter, I’m max rep with Venari.

Well, just for giggles, I went to Torghast, not been there in a long time.

Got me curious, and now, I want that!

Anyway, I used my BM HUnter who has everything unlocked for Torghast since SL was current, I did Fracture Chambers, Level 16. Got to the Vendor and everything except Gilded Skull Crescent was locked, red in the box, unable to be purchased.

I have a lot of the appearances but I didn’t run it on many characters back then.

Back in SL I never encountered this, the vendor used to only show one , maybe 2 items.

So is the vendor bugged to be showing ALL items but only acting like ONE is available?

Quite annoying, I can see that.

I am and have been exalted (Appreciated)with Ve’nari for a long time.

I think this is what’s happening.

Except that the statistical chance that my Hunter went in, the vendor was there, and the 2 items I needed were ALSO there … has to approach nil.

So it’s bugged, on more than one level.

Ok, second run.

9 items on the vendor. Only 2 that were not locked.

[Argent Mawsworn Greatsword] only item I could purchase. Vendor 2 as I accidentally killed first vendor!

Her reputation store has badges you use to unlock parts of the Torghast Broker’s inventory.

Is all I have, so i’m pretty sure, yes. I have purchased everything she has ever had to offer, back in 2021.
