Hey everyone,
I wanted to start a discussion about something that’s been bothering me in Battleground Blitz and see if others feel the same way. As someone who’s put a lot of effort into getting better, I’ve managed to reach around 3.2k MMR, which SHOULD be a good thing. However, my CR is only sitting at 1600, and it’s starting to feel like an exhausting grind to climb the ranks when queues take 30 minutes to pop.
I’m playing at a high level and winning games consistently, but I still have to play against others at 3k+ MMR to make small gains in CR. The reward system just doesn’t feel fair – it’s almost like I’m being punished for playing well, having to put in so many more hours waiting in queues and sweat way more during the games just to make even a small CR improvements. Meanwhile, other players with lower MMR are getting CR faster than I am, which is frustrating because it doesn’t reflect the effort and skill required to stay at 3200 MMR.
Shouldn’t players who consistently play at higher levels gain CR faster than those who aren’t? Right now, it feels like the harder I try, the more I’m forced into an endless loop of high-stakes games just to push to 1800 CR. It’d be great if Blizzard could adjust the system so that our CR reflects the MMR we’re actually playing at, or at least reward skilled players with a more balanced progression.
Curious if anyone else feels the same way or has suggestions for ways Blizzard could make the climb feel more fair.
Thanks!
I dont know how that is even remotely possible. I was playing at 2500 when i hit 1800.
After 1600 rating gains dropped to ~24 per win, and it took like, 10 games to hit 1800.
I’d love to know how your mmr is going up but your cr isnt.
Ignoring the obviously fake MMR/CR numbers, yes, I agree that CR gains should accelerate if you’re maintaining a significantly higher MMR.

dm me i’ll send you a screenshot of the numbers
It’s just how MMR works.
You get slid up (or down) to the level of play where the game estimates you’ll win roughly half of you matches and then CR just has to catch up. One of the issues with Blitz, however, is the sheer amount of time it takes to reach your correct CR.
Gotta remember at 2900 MMR and 1700 CR you’re playing top of the ladder games for crumbs of CR, sometimes after waiting long queues. 50-50ing dozens upon dozens of games just to get initial CR feels awful.

I would wager this is a side-effect of the early blitz inflation.
CR and MMR skyrocketed on month 1 and then they likely overdid it with the nerf, now people who weren’t already playing have to slog through queues.
I think the way they should handle this is buff CR gains relative to MMR for this season only then next season when ratings are normal (without a super inflation like we had at the start) they revert it and observe the ladder.
The MMR and CR calculations for blitz is definitely off.
2800 MMR and dragging my way up 24cr at a time over weeks of queue time.
Queue shuffle one day and pass my blitz CR.
Blitz is whack lmao
Yeah, but the trade off is that you had to do arena/shuffle. Thats a fate i’d not wish on my worst enemy
Blitz is only going to get worse if they don’t do the changes needed.
Honestly, I would agree with this at the launch of blitz, but Blitz feels way more frustrating and I experience way more toxicity in blitz. I’ll get lifetime 1600 players who RNG’d their way up the MMR ladder rage whispering me telling me that my talents are wrong I should quit playing.
I realize it might be just me, But i had like no issues with blitz.
Once i realized i had to treat it differently than i do random bgs i had a blast.
Arenas are something blizzard actively couldnt pay me to do, and is content i have ever only participated in for my friends.
The biggest issue I see in Blitz is people not playing the objectives. It’s all about objectives and often a portion of your team just wants to teamfight.

Next season when MMR isn’t as inflated is gonna be bleak, yo.
People gonna hit their Rival then dip out because they already got 2400 this season which is all the titles.
Wish objectives weren’t the entire game because it really creates a bit of a class imbalance. Disc or Ret fighting over a node for 5 minutes is 2 million times less useful than a Rogue who presses cloak and clicks a flag then caps it because the guy sitting is a caster.
4 sec node caps just actual insanity
This is why ret should sit
Also blitz reminds me of hots in that there’s a lot of frustration and confusion as to who should be where.
I’ll get flamed for not grabbing the flag on BDK or Prot Warr when we have a Mistweaver/Pres.
The Rogue will refuse to guard a flag and just get killed 1v1 by the enemy Hunter.
Offcarters go solo and get 1v2’d by enemy offcarters rotating together.
Had a Gilneas just insta thrown because apparently the guy at the enemy Lighthouse looked away for a second so I just got the node for literally free and of course waterworks is a stalemate.
Would you rather have a rogue base sit than sap cap? Thats basically all i did
Until higher mmr yeah usually but ig it depends on lineup
I watched a 2300 rogue get 1v1’d by a prot warr and recommended he try BM hunter instead

He sapped him then tried to cap the flag, obviously the sap breaks because of berserker rage, so he blinds him, which he trinkets, then he 1 point kidneys him (???) instead of full kidney and capping and just manfights him until he dies.
“he trinketed blind nothing i could do”
All he had to do was press kidney and he got the base and Rogue lives 30+ seconds for somebody to rotate over. Nah, he just sits there mashing backstab or whatever and dies. To a prot warr.

Its funny how many people forget about berserker rage, I’ve had just as many warriors not use it against me, as i’m sure rogues have forgotten warriors have it.
