The CEO of Microsoft Gaming Phil Spencer Wants More ‘World of Warcraft’ Players

“Microsoft CEO and Xbox Boss Phil Spencer Wants More ‘World of Warcraft’ Players After Microsoft Purchase of Activision Blizzard”

“I want more people to be playing WoW in five years than are playing today,” Spencer tells journalist Stephen Totilo.

“I grew up at a time where Blizzard was almost as synonymous as Pixar in terms of quality,” Spencer says a bit later. “That’s where I aspire those brands to get to, and I’d love the opportunity to go work with creative teams to make that possible.”

So the current dev team will be axed?

Let’s hope he’s not just doing a PR puff piece and actually means it.

Or unshackled from marketing/accounting and allowed to develop a game rather than a time wasting system for player retention metrics.

I would too considering hardly anyone is playing. Need to keep those profits up!

Oh so two departments that need to be axed.

Well they need to hire and train some real game designers. Not these mobile game style manipulators that are running the game into the ground. PC players long term will not tolerate mobile phone style systems that they are using in the game now. I tried to play after a year off and NOPE!!! Not going to tolerate this mobile game crap design they put in the game now.

The potential to get immense amounts of good-will from the gaming community will hopefully be a big draw for them to actually get this done. Happy gamers spend money.

Wow. That gives this crudgemugeon hope.

To achieve that there’s going to have to be an internal mentality shift on where the focus on development goes. Keeping it on pleasing the M+/Raiders isn’t sustainable for the game or the number of subscribers as we’ve clearly seen.

One thing he could do is put an add-on manager in the launcher at let it save your settings to your account.

This is wonderful news! I have said for a long time that this game should be more new player friendly. I feel this game’s audience can be pretty hostile to them as well. They need a design philosophy shift.

This isn’t me.

The current team simply was lazy, they wanted ‘volume knobs’ to balance the game with. This game is way more complex than that. Thanks for the hope Phil!

That is the primary goal of every video game developer and publisher.

Not every developer.

Some can see past endless profits.

Whoa, really!?

No. It’s every developer and publisher. Even the great Square Enix.

Well, at least you realize it’s not just Activision Blizzard.

Neat, but where did I state otherwise?
