If you’ve been on the forums the past week or so, you may or may not remember that I made a case for Pandaren Death Knights. While I still firmly believe in that cause, there are other causes I firmly believe in as well, and today the cause I’d like to look towards are Gnome Paladins.
Why Gnomes? Simple: They’d be incredible. Besides that, it would fit in-game as well.
Gnomes are already capable of being priests both in-game and lore-wise, and they have been noted to have taken an interest in the Light as both a benevolent force and a possible upgrade to their technology.
So Gnome Paladins could have a lore base in either traditional paladinism (if that word exists), mecha-crusader-ism (that word definitely doesn’t exist), or both!
Would it work structurally, with the way classes are distributed to the Alliance? Yes! Currently, Gnomes are capable of being eight different classes. This is quite a few, but not the highest. The highest amount of classes available to Alliance races lie in Dwarves, who are capable of being 10.
As for role-structure, currently all but Worgen and Gnomes on the Alliance are capable of being three or more healer classes, and all but Worgen, Gnomes, and Pandaren are capable of being four tank classes. Allowing Gnomes to be Paladins would contribute towards evening both of the forementioned facts out!
As for their unique Paladin mount? Simple: light-infused C.R.U.S.A.D.E.-class Mechastriders!
So why not? Gnome Paladins would be incredible. The gnome community would surely be thrilled, and we could live in a world with tiny crusaders - A better world, to be sure.
Also, I’ve been wanting to play a Gnome Paladin for at least five or six years now. Please, I beg of you.
