The Canceled Sub Club

Just here to post my reasoning for cancelling my subscription, after basically spending basically my entire childhood as a Warcraft fan. Anyone else who has issues with the game, feel free to add to the list.

Game is too much Activision, not enough old school Blizzard.

It takes hours to complete dailies that you are forced to do to keep up. Between dailies, the endless AP grind, weeklies, there is just no time to do anything fun. It feels like having a second job. All of my friends have already quit, and it’s just not worth even trying to enjoy myself any more.

A grind to achieve something is one thing, but several endless grinds that go on forever, all of which are time-gated, btw, and must be done on a daily/weekly basis just feels super unenjoyable. The grinds, instead of feeling like I’m accomplishing something, instead just makes me feel like Blizzard is just trying to keep me busy.

PvP is pretty terrible, with so many dumb, gimmicky specs with dumb, gimmicky abilities, such as Fire Mages and their Greater Pyroblast. It’s not fun to play against, even if I win the match. It’s super boring and unappealing. What’s the point of gearing, if my opponent can do the same % of my health, no matter how much I outgear him? It’s made even worse when it’s a low level spamming their one-button rotation and there’s actually a major threat of death.

The lack of PvP vendors, and the forced PvE to stay competetive, completely ruined PvP gearing. I don’t want to have to PvE just so that I can PvP. I have no idea why you guys changed off of the system that worked for over a decade, but now it just feels like a chore.

I’m not 100% sure how it works, but PvP scaling, the system that causes you to do reduced damage to players lower geared than you, is pretty stupid. Especially since the damage I deal isn’t the same as the damage that is shown. If I hit someone with 50k health for 50k, they should die. Not survive with like 10k health. And it’s especially dumb that the damage done my opponent and I see varies. How come I can hit for 50k, but on his screen it only shows him taking 40k? It’s an incredibly dumb system.

Gear should matter. I should feel like the hard work I put into gearing myself makes a difference. Not doing reduced damage to people lower IL than me. Yet still being susceptible to being 3 shot by a fresh 120 Fire Mage.

Having to grind for flying is a terrible system. Let me just buy it at the start of the expansion. Again, no idea why you changed off of this system. I’ve had flying in BFA for just a few days and the entire travel experience felt so much smoother. I feel like I can actually enjoy the terrain. And, it’s not incredibly headache inducing to get from point A to point B.

If I wanted to travel on land, I would just travel on land. I have land mounts for a reason. Just like I have flying mounts for a reason. I should be allowed to use whichever I choose, for whenever I choose. Or else, what’s the point of even having flying mounts in the first place?

Sort of already mentioned this, but I’m bringing it up again: Artifact Power is a terrible, terrible system. Not sure how it made it past Legion Alpha. Way too much grinding, essentially never ending. My highlight of the expansion was when I hit level 50, and could finally stop grinding it. And then 8.2 came along.

Titanforging and Warforging is overall bad. I will admit that getting a nice Titanforge or Warforge can be pretty cool in the moment, but overall it just causes me to feel bad when I don’t get my item upgraded. Especially when a random group member does get an upgrade. Just makes me feel like some idiot scrub, with my trashy item. I’d rather gear just be what it always used to be. Just gear, with no inflation, with a set cap.

M+ is a terrible system. Not everyone wants to set the world record for how fast you can complete a dungeon. I’d rather just enjoy the journey of a dungeon, like old BRD, for example. Not being forced to zoom past all of the scenery and mass AoE pull everything possible, to complete it as fast as possible.

M+ might be for some people, but it’s just not for me. I’d rather enjoy the journey. However, I cannot gear doing just regular Mythics, as M+ gives such significantly higher IL gear, so I am forced to do M+ to gear.

WoW has lost the meaning of what an RPG is supposed to be. It feels more like a micro-transaction mobile game, just instead of micro-transactions, you pay a monthly fee and have to spend hours, upon hours, to get any of the rewards for playing.

I will probably be playing WoW Classic, because it is actually an RPG, as opposed to whatever Retail is now. However, I do want to say that I don’t want to have to switch to Classic. I would rather play Retail, as I have invested so many years into my account, and my main. But I just don’t enjoy playing any more.

I want to like Retail. I really do. But I just can’t with how badly the game has devolved.

Thanks for reading.

Please note that I have little interest in actually playing WoW Classic. There are a lot of good features, such as flying, that have been added to the game over the years. WoW Classic will mostly just be a nostalgia trip for me, as well as a look back at how cool things used to be. For example, a Horde theme before it became completely dominated by Blood Elves.

And while I will be greatly enjoying actually playing my class again, filled with Auras and buffs, I will miss having cool spells like Avenging Wrath, or an actual rotation that consists of more than just auto attacking.

Just buy time cards, It’s how I test a patch to see if I want to keep playing or not. I enjoy Blizzard story telling for the most part but I’m rather “eh” with 8.2 so far. Was kinda hoping to see the upgraded Worgn model but maybe I’ll pop back in for 9.0 just have to see.

edit: Really wish we could “collapse” certain posts, I’ve no interest in seeing unrelated memes.

Not sure why you felt the need to post a troll comment. Blizzard requested feedback, so I gave it.

If you don’t care and have no interest in reading my post, why even bother commenting at all?

Why are people so rude on this forum… it’s sad to see this behavior from regulars. OP made a well written post. I’ll be joining you OP in classic as well… are you going to be on the RP server?

the only thing I not is you’re here for attention…and continue to come back to see what people are saying. If you’re going to go, then go.

Best of luck to you, hope you come back some day!

So you aren’t really unsubbing.

You could just head over to the classic forum and fan boi with them instead of dropping a poo filled tldr rant here…

But Jawah, I like reading your name on here.

It is fun to say.

It’s undecided. Most likely not. I have a lot of old friends who are interested in coming back, but without the ability to group cross-server, I’ll have to find a middle ground for everyone. But several of them disdain the idea of an RP server. So I’m not really sure what I’m going to do.

If I could choose, I’d play on an RPPvP server, but Idk if it’ll work out.

I want to play on a pvp server but half of my friend group doesn’t.

…the same half that also doesn’t want to raid in classic.

I don’t know what they’re planning to do but it sounds pretty boring whatever it is. :man_shrugging:

But you’re not actually unsubscribing if you’re going to resubscribe for Classic.

I’ll be seeing you in Classic, OP.

To OP:
Honestly wish ya luck in finding what makes you enjoy the game. Be it Classic or another game.

I’m of a true Neutral stance. Find what it is that you enjoy and go for it.
