The buff was quite good for BM, my heroic parses are 10k to 15k higher across the board, which is where I saw the good hunters with the 418 Raz bow, so now I can finally compete. (I stopped doing mythic raid to keep my vault all heroic for bow, thanks blizz)
The ring, I am using a frost, thunder and fire stone at 424 ilv and the ring is doing 5 to 6% of my overall damage, Im thinking that HAS to be better than the contribution of my usual ring with stats and socket. 6% is better than my trinkets individually. The fire dot is the weakest of the 3 so will switch it out for life drain and try that.
EDIT: the life drain seems comparable to the fire dot but its healing me as well so thats a better stone
You mean 424, you buy 2 unstable elementum off a crafter using the crafting system for each stone, you can put 3 stones in your ring, when you upgrade each stone twice and put all 3 in the ring the ring is 424 ilv and the damage of each stone reflects that. You just buy the upgrade item and then put them on the stone at your leisure
Annulate is absolute garbage 2K-8k dmg loss using the gems recommended the secondary stats are not worth giving up if you have better rings. Waste of time unless they add or allow secondary stats to be added to this ring it wont be used by anyone that has gear.
I read somewhere the sims arent simming correctly, I mean, i have a hard time understanding how 6 to 9% of my total damage is worse than a stat ring……. I know they buffed the rings, maybe thats not taken into effect yet on the sims.
The Icy Veins article has been updated to reflect this. I simmed the single target choices (with me in a single target build) and it looks pretty good - about 3.5% to 4%
Replace one of your rings with a cosmetic ring with no stats and sim it. In my case, it was about an 8k DPS loss. Annulet only brought back about 5k of that lost DPS. Rings are your biggest source of secondary stats, which is why they only have Stamina as a primary stat.
Fair enough. I just know that my in-game parses show a DPS loss with the Annulet as well. After today’s buffs, I ran a few five minute parses and the Annulet went from a 3k dps loss to a 1k dps loss versus a 418 crafted ring. It feels worse for BM, because losing that much secondary stats can be felt when trying to keep Frenzy stacks up.
the new ring can help with survivability but its only a borrowed power solution and you will loose out on dps im most cases.
Desirous Blood Stone = Equip: [Dealing damage has a chance to drain life, dealing 12,127 Shadow damage and healing you for that amount.]
Prophetic Twilight Stone = Equip: [Damaging effects from your Primordial Stones trigger one of your healing effects, and vice versa.]
Exuding Steam Stone = Equip: [Receiving heals has a chance to exude steam, restoring 12,039 health to yourself and 2 nearby allies.]
My thought process is if the first 2 trigger each other constantly if the lifesteal count as a heal like you think it should then Exuding Steam stone should heal us extra and our pet and also hopefully trigger Desirous Blood Stone more that can trigger itself and Exuding steam more.
But if that dosnt work there always
-Indomitable Earth Stone = Equip: [Taking damage has a chance to shield yourself, absorbing 32,506 damage for 12 sec.]
and you know us hunters always taking damage so that be useful or the…
-Cold Frost Stone = Gain a Frost shield every 20 seconds that absorbs 21670 damage and slows melee attackers by 15% for 5 seconds.
A slow and shield pretty useful maybe but if your just suffering and need more dps
Freezing Ice Stone = Dealing damage can chill the enemy, dealing 16,171 Frost damage and slowing them by 15% for 6 seconds.
and as a class that is very mobile this is nice
but honestly where where these stone effect ideas when they were thinking of talents for hunters i hope they recycle some this for us when this gear becomes obsolete.
All the gems have internal cooldowns, so they don’t really proc enough to rely on them for any type of healing. Prophetic and Desirous interaction is mostly just good for a slight bit more DPS.
I’ve been running dungeon slice sims for BM on various combinations of stones, along with full re-gemming/chanting of other equipment, and the very best combo I could find (Storm Infused, Desirous Blood, & Prophetic Twilight along with a full Crafty Ysemerald re-gem & crit ring enchants) gave me a ~340dps increase with a ~50dps margin of error. That’s a lot of work just to get something out of a ring that’s 9 ilvls higher with special procs intended to be BIS. I’m wondering if this ring isn’t proc’ing from pet attacks/abilities.
