If you do get it don’t be the person that just completely defaults to using it for all of your purchasing needs. That’s a quick way to go even more broke. Also after so long of an expansion without mine, I sometimes find myself running to the boralus vendor on my main. Had to put it in my utility mount tab with a select addon macro so I can just quickly use it (used to be yak as my default).
I have used it WAY more than I thought I would. Yes it’s annoying because it is so tall and doesn’t fit through a lot of stuff and it just seems slower when running (sorta like running with ma Tauren feels much slower than running with a Gnome). But yeah it has been very useful in world quests, food buys and many other things I didn’t realize.
That’s a non-statement. Literally everything is optional.
In my case, I would simply log into my bank alt to collect said item on the AH and then put the item in the guild bank, then open the guild bank on the character needing the item. Saves me about 5 million gold or so.
I’ve been sorta-trying, and mostly failing, to accumulate the needed funds for it. It’s not going to happen, but I hedged my bets from the beginning and in the wake of missing out on the Brutosaur I’m going to have a lot of money to blow on a transmog shopping spree.
This mount actually makes you a traveling sales person. If you got the best deals ANyWhErE!! you can just go around advertising, selling… plant yourself in front of a raid entrance…
… maybe you won’t get killed… can opposing faction also use your AH?
Imagine if you got the AH cut from transactions on your Brutosaur
Grats, OP.
I hate this mount for what I saw it do to my friends, and how many bots sprung up in its wake. It just fostered unhealthy gameplay everywhere, and all that for a mount that’s just… meh.
Idk, I really hope they reuse the Brutosaur model without vendors and in more colors like that lovely white. But now they probably CAN’T because it would take away from the unique silhouette of the AH mount. Bleh
Replace “Brutosaur” with the Green Fire title, and welcome to my MoP world.
It is what it is, I’m sure some other felt the same way about the mage tower. Some folks perhaps leveling classes just to get in to the mage tower.
It’s just the nature of a deadline.
It’s also the charm of these “once in a wowtime” things.
Folks commit a lot of time and effort to these things, ideally succeed, and are rewarded.
But not all. Pity the poor Joe that’s 100K short of the mount. I know I was concerned that the Green Fire title was going to be lost in the pre-patch, and if it was, I wouldn’t have got it. But dodged that bullet and was ultimately successful.
Having to balance working the Green Fire with the cape wasn’t very much fun either, but I pulled it off.
Of course, in the end, getting the title was REALLY satisfying. Hu-ZAH!
But, stressful none the less.
I think that’s my biggest issue with this one. The journey was not memorable, and there is no rush of excitement here.
Things like the mage tower were a challenge, and when the mage tower was up I was in there a bunch trying to get it done. It was frustrating at times, but when I beat it, I was ecstatic. That excitement put the frustration and challenge into context.
The Brutosaur, not so much. Getting it (well, close to, will get it before pre-patch) did not bring about the same kind of context on the journey. Many grinds are a time sink, but the cost of the mount is an added gut punch because you spent all of that time on the grind AND you’re losing all of your money, too.
I will enjoy the reward, but it does take away from it a bit when the path from point A to point B was so long and miserable.
That would utterly defeat its purpose as a gold sink. The game needs fewer ways to print raw gold, not more.
That was more of a joke about being a traveling salesmen. I didn’t mean they should honestly do that
To be honest, this was the patch for that - 8.3 was just horrid and I wish I had given it up 2-3 months ago and not keep trying to somehow find the fun buried under the garbage. But, even when I found it, I had that feeling I was eating old food inside a dumpster… icky.
The transmog mount was my greatest victory. I love doing transmog stuff and having it makes my life so much easier.
I dont have anywhere near enough gold for the ah mount, but I only do ah maybe 1 time per month, so if I had enough gold, I probably wouldn’t get it
However, congratulations on the success of you achievement
It may well be because it was all or nothing. You either beat the mage tower, or you didn’t. There was no “99%!”. Do, or do not, there is no try.
Whereas the Brutosaur is just a long, soul sucking grind. You could, ideally, look down the tunnel and see the light.
When I was doing Green Fire, there was no light. I did it at least 200 times, and only once came “close”, all of the others failed pretty early. When I finally did it, it was as if it was no big deal. No drama, no panic, it just happened and it was done. ( \o/ ) .
I will say, I’ve never been back! ![]()
But with the Brutosaur, I can see someone go “Yup, only 57 more days of this and it’s MINE ALL MINE!” Ugh!
My bank alt has his own guild. I assumed most serious bank alts were that way.
Bro, you’re $20 away from it. Just buy a token before the bruto is gone.
I will if it looks like I won’t have time to farm the last bit. I’d rather save my real money if possible.
If you want to raid mythic/grind high keys, gearing up is not optional, getting others to help is not optional, learning the mechanics is not optional.
The Brutosaur is not required to unlock any quality of this game. It’s an optional QoL feature that let’s you save a trip to a city whenever you want to auction stuff.
Big difference.
Congrats on joining the Brutosaur club! I’m sorry you don’t feel very happy or like it was much of an accomplishment, but it is an awesome mount, and imo well worth the sink.
Outside what the tinfoil hat believers say (Blizz just getting people to buy tokens), I honestly believe it was added to have us gold hoarders lighten some of the load. People have been sitting on a huge amount since Garrisons/Legion halls/CM sells etc, and have nothing really to spend it on.
For those who had to honestly grind it, big kudos, I’ve seen people losing their mind trying to get enough gold to finally buy it.
I for one hope there are lots more things like this added to the game. We can’t get 'em all necessarily (I never did buy the spider from Legion, now that I think about it), but sometimes there’s just something too fun to pass up. It is just one more thing to make your account feel whole and warm and fuzzy inside.
Anywho, if you’re a fan of dinosaurs the Brutosaur is a big ole 10/10 good boy. Hope in the end you enjoy it with no regrets.
