This prophecy, from way back in Legion, has probably been discussed more often than most of the others, and probably because of where it seems to point. Most people conclude that the Boy-King is Anduin, since he has been called that ingame, and I believe it is correct and it will come to pass during this expansion.
I was reminded of it while doing a questline in Revendreth today. During a cutscene, an NPC called the Stonewright says: “None of your grand words matter. You cannot defeat the Jailer and the Master.” In the past many assumed “the Master” was N’Zoth but it obviously wasn’t, so the next probability seemed to be the Jailer - except I cannot recall the Jailer ever been referred to as the Master, and the nature of the title doesn’t really fit him.
So Denathrius is known as the Master, and he lead the Venthyr, who are very fond of parties and banquets. Even Blizzard’s own webpage describes the Venthyr saying “They lord over Revendreth’s castles and ceaseless twilight while arrogant souls are delivered to their tables.” The are also torturers who “strip the pride from their thralls”.
So here you have a “Master” and “tables” mentioned in the same descriptive passage, and you also have a leader who is working with the Jailer. So it may well be that it is to Denathrius that Anduin is delivered, to strip away his pride and faith and hone him as a weapon for the Jailer.
Where the second part of the prophecy comes in I’m not sure. I’m not even sure who it refers to…it just says “three lies he will offer you”; so is the 'he" Anduin or Denathrius? If it’s Anduin, that would seem to point to a rather difficult time for our little Lion.
Yes, all conjecture, but it feels sort of right to me. I’ll be very interested to see how close I get on this one…
I also imagine the Drust are outright serving Sire Denathrius! The Ghost Girl in Drustvar mentions that “The Master waits for you to join him…” Sure enough we end up joining Sire Denathrius temporarily!
The Drust even mentions The Master and have apparently struck a bargain with the forces of Death and Domination(Dreadlords created the Vessels of Domination at the Jailer’s behest and Sire Denathrius has a Medallion of Domination)!
Its gotta be The drust leader Gorak Tul right? thats why they have a presence in ardenweald and why the drust all call their leader “the master”
And they use death magic soooo
Edit: we also have a drust in tirna scithe that uses domination magic aswell as the hexthralled in drustvar.
Maybe after we kill the jailer, next expansion kicks off with gorak tul taking over his reigns on anduin meanwhile The “golden king” back home starts a pact with yrels light crusade.
One thing that stuck out to me since Zereth Mortis opened is that Firim’s exiled notes talk about the six forces being pointed at the seventh yet denying it.
The everliving statuette that we pick up in Korthia whispers about the seventh coveting what the six hold fast.
That’s got me obsessing a little over who’s at the Master’s table this time. Who or what is the seventh? Something on the cosmos chart?
Me too. I dont think its the First Ones, because they are basically the engineers of Death, since they created the Shadowlands. If Death is one of the 6 forces, it has to be something outside the currently known Force beings.
Perhaps Zovaal caught wind of this extra Force somehow and tried to take control so he could combat it and then get swatted and dominated etc. I dunno.
Frankly, Im personally a bit over “lets fight the next huge Big Thing”. Can we just go back to Azeroth and chill and have an adventure expansion of some sort there? Something, y’know, fun?
