The boots associated with the reshii cloak remove too many embellishment options

These boots increase the effectiveness of the cloak by 50%, which is a very significant buff.

This means that every player must wear the boots.

If we have to wear these boots then we will be unable to use embellishments in the boot slot for the entire season.

This will prevent players from using specific embellishments such as Waders of the Unifying Flame and reinforced Setae flyers.

Additionally, forcing us to lock out boots from one of our crafted item slots gives us one less option for where we can put Dawnthread Lining, Duskthread Lining, writhing armor banding and many more.

Please remove these boots and just buff the cloak by 50%: this will make for a much more enjoyable season for everyone as we will have much more freedom in which embellishments we can use.

Writing Armour Banding is simple, it’ll always go on bracers like always as it would then complement your MH/OH wherever you craft it.

But the dawn/dusk threads suffer a lot from this situation since they would be relegated to cloak/bracers right now on live however that will shift to a combo of either Bracers/Belt or Bracers/The piece your tier is not in which all depends on how much the DISC belt is nerfed if at all going into the next season once it’s fully upgraded since crafting an embellishment on boots early would be silly as you would have to recraft it again not long afterwards.

As for what they could do to rectify this? It could be made into an upgrade you get from completing the campaign which would require you to kill the last boss at least once on any mode. This is the one I think is the most fair and doesn’t lock out even more gear to be dead slots.

They could make it’s proc rate increase in raids only and add it at an arbitrary raid renown track of say ~8 so it comes in 2 months into the tier for everyone and then this would be removed entirely from providing benefits in m+/pvp etc to stop the feeling of being forced into content for some players.

You still have belt and bracers if you need specifically armor pieces.

We still have the titan belt, which will still be useful next season, so that armor slot is locked up as well. I’m not sure when it’ll be able to be replaced next season; I wouldn’t be surprised if it took a while to find something better unfortunately. Some players might not find something better the rest of the season if Cyrcee’s Circlet is any indication. It took me until I could purchase the hero track Jastor Diamond and upgrade it completely before I found a ring good enough to replace Cyrcee’s Circlet, so that ring slot was locked up for most of the season.

The only non-tier slot that we are guranteed to be able to use for duskthread or dawnthread lining is bracers. The rest are tier slots, the belt gimmick item we can get now, and the cloak and boots season 2 gimmick items. I wish they would at least remove the boots and move the buff on the boots (and the ring tied to the cloak as well) to something that isn’t tied to a gear slot. There’s also a ring tied to the cloak with a defensive buff - I wish that buff was moved to something that was not tied to a gear slot as well. That’s my biggest problem with this whole thing - locking up gear slots for at least a significant part of the season.

Yes just make the 50% upgrade come from some sort of questline instead of being tied to an armor slot.

Depending on how long it takes us to replace the titan disc belt, we may not be able to change that out til middle-end season: just look at how many people are still using Circe’s circlet.

The titan belt is a very small increase over a 684 belt, the one power that was overperforming is getting nerfed next reset. There’s no way this will beat a 720 belt, especially if you need it for an embellishment slot and can’t put it anywhere else.

If they are nerfing it week1, it’s likely they’ll buff another power down the line and make the belt more appealing. They said in interviews it is intended to be worn into S3, so in true Blizzard fashion they’ll just find another way to buff it and keep players using it.

The belt will upgrade to ilvl 701.

I’m willing to bet that putting a crafted embellishment on your belt will be a dps downgrade.

Circe’s circlet is 658 and literally better than any 684 ring other than jastor diamond for some classes (those classes would wear the jastor diamond and the circlet)

Luckily this is immediately irrelevant on patch day since they are nerfing the benefit provided by Fathomdweller’s to other gems by 50%, which should drop the ring off the last few specs it’s still BIS for.

Quick napkin math on some of the stat procs for the belt at ~30% uptime suggests that it isn’t that much better than a belt with full passive stats on it, so I think a 720 easily beats it at 701 with the current tuning.

Overall as far as the point of this thread is concerned, I agree the boots are a terrible way to design this.

Only one source for the boots too. Raid. That’s it. Don’t raid? Grats, you miss out on making your cloak better.

It doesn’t really matter if a slot or multiple slots are ‘locked down’ if you ask me. In the end there’s only going to be one ‘best’ combination of gear, and ironically the people who huff and puff about it the most are generally not the ones who need to worry about it at all.

Most of the Sims point to the 701 belt being around a 2% increase for most classes over a 684 belt, with the power that is getting a 60% nerf next reset being a 4%.

Yeah, you’ll “wear it into season 3” but a crafted 720 belt is likely to beat it for everyone. The only reason some classes still use the ring is the absurd mastery stacking it allows, so classes that favor mastery over every other stat used it for longer. This is not true of the belt.

This doesn’t change the fact that the boots are a mandatory piece of gear and they only come from the raid.

That was not your complaint on this thread. This one is about “crafted item embellishments slots”.

The thread stated that the new borrowed power items take up too many slots:

The boots are a mandatory slot taken up by the new borrowed power.

Lost your way again?

We don’t have to do anything, you’re just doomsaying.

I think moving it to an end of campaign award is a good idea, or even the new side activity you use the cloak for as long as it isnt too grindy. Make it an enchant that can go on boots (or helm to repace the corruptions)

If theyre keeping it on the boots; a delves and keys equivalent would be nice, dont let them stack of course but having more options to empower the cloak makes sense if its going to be used in all forms of content and suppose to be the hook item for the season. We’re getting a new dungeon and a new delve this season themed around the new zone so they can drop from there.

These are all very good ideas.

i just simmed the Durable Information Securing Container at 701 ilvl against a 730 ilvl crafted belt and the Durable Information Securing Container is showing as an 18k dps increase over a 730 crafted ilvl belt.

given that the ilvl increase from season one to season 2 was 39 ilvl - 639 to 678, we should expect to see an increase of 39 ilvl from the current 684, which would be 723.

crafted items will then be 720 at the start of the season and then become 726 after the turbo boost (if we get a turbo boost)… so even after turbo boost, the 701 ilvl Durable Information Securing Container will be stronger than a crafted belt. (and still stronger than a non-crafted myth track belt that would be 729 after turbo boost)

so we are looking at the following gear slots being already taken before the season starts:

  1. helm
  2. shoulders
  3. chest
  4. hands
  5. legs
  6. cloak
  7. boots
  8. one ring
  9. one embellishment
  10. second embellishment
  11. belt

not including weapon, we have 14 gear slots. we have a grand total of four free slots next season (since you only need to wear four piece of tier). We also must note that two of those slots are trinket slots which cannot be crafted or contain embellishments.

For what spec? Fury in M+ gains 53k DPS with a 720 ilvl crafted belt over the DISC if nothing else changes about my current gear. I think that, much like Cyrce’s, the number of specs that can keep it will be few.

did u sim your DISC belt at max ilvl of 701?

blizzard changed the location of the corruption enchants from weapons to helm so that DKs could use them.

if even one spec has to keep the DISC belt, then accomodation should be made.

the answer is pretty simple, just remove these boots and buff the cloak by 50% on its own.
