The quest to protect Bonesmith Heirmir is currently impossible or at least very very difficult to complete.
Mobs (specifically the Echoes) continue to spawn endlessly and simply do not move on to the next portion of the quest.
I’ve read reports that killing the 3 echoes at the exact same second progresses the quest, but that’s a tall order and a ridiculous difficulty spike if this is intended. I can’t even do it on my Frost mage, who has plenty of AOE spells to whittle them all down at same time.
It’s strange, I was able to complete the quest earlier this week on my main just fine. As things stand, this is a gamebreaking bug and does not allow me to progress the Shadowlands campaign due to the quest being impossible or overly difficult.

same thing is happening to me just now
same thing happening to my bf and i right now, the quest in incompletable
Same here. I cannot complete quest, mobs keep spawning endlessly
You have to kill them at the same time, here what you do.
get each one to 1000 hp. Widdle shields down.
Use maldraxus buff to spawn a guy, kill it. Wait for the damage buff to take effect. POP.
If you are a blood elf bring each one down. Then use arcane torrent.
Just popping in to say the same thing. I even did down three Echoes at once and they still kept spawning. I tried abandoning the quest multiple times and a relog to no avail. I’d like to be able to continue advancing through this expansion, but the state of the quest currently makes that impossible, which is incredibly disappointing given the release delays and subscription costs.
They have to die, by the same exact AOE.
Get them low, one by one.
Then use your arcane torrent Mira, then multishot. Success.

I had them all down to ~5% and did precisely that. Even dismissed pets on a second try to make sure they weren’t smacking anyone.
I am experiencing the exact same thing, I killed spawns for at least 15 minutes before giving up. I abandoned and picked the quest up 3x as well, no dice. Logout/login and rebooting did not work either. Right now I could kill mobs indefinitely at 160xp/mob to level 60…

Ive helped 3 people do it now so thats odd.
No matter what I try, killing all of them at once or not, the quest won’t complete.
One time they stopped spawning, but Heirmir also despawned, so I couldn’t complete the quest anyway, it’s completely broken.
im having the same issue. the echos just keep spawning. abandoned quest hearthed flew back took quest same issue. removed addons no difference. grrrr
Had someone who I was helping have a bit more of a cow with this than I did.
He was a hunter, had him swap to Survival.
Walk up accept quest, abandon quest, talk to npc again but DECLINE quest.
Pick quest up again, talk to NPC stay behind npc. First two enemies will spawn. Bring them together and kill at same time same spell.
3 echos will come next, get them to 1/2 hp DO NOT GO LOWER Use maldraxxus buff and wait for demon sign to appear in your buffs.
Pop all 3 from 1/2 hp. Do not mess this up.
Coknbull, I’ve done this quest before on my druid, it was no where near this difficult. If you look at the strat video on WoWhead, it’s actually pretty easy, but it’s current iteration can be impossible. It’s bugged.
I just did it, and each person ive helped has completed it as well.
This is just a potential solution to the current bug in the meantime.
Same happening here. Can’t complete this quest, can’t progress
edit: Ok, I was able to complete it by very carefully killing them all at once. It’s tough to do on a rogue that has super bursty damage & bleeds.
you sir are not correct. Sorry but this is bugged. Did it two other times a couple of days ago on different toons and never had to kill any of them at the same time.
Keep pushing these threads up. They have to see it eventually, right?

Yup, can’t finish this on my druid. Despite trying for ages to getting them down really low and then killed them all the same time but nope.
