The beta client has been launched

The client is now updatable to beta. And beta is coming soon.

Once game developers notes are up then the beta is officially out and ready.

That’s insane

They actually just submitted a second update to the client.

You I got that about 5 minutes ago myself.

Mine has been stuck at 1.85 GB remaining for over an hour

I haven’t been able to connect to a Beta Realm yet.

That is because none of it are live I am specifically talking about the client itself.

Blizzard’s DevOps people are insane.

I just feel like people should know that it’s literally a choice to tell your customers that something is going to be ready a day before the engineers actually deploy / test it.

A sensible company would say “We’re shutting the Alpha down on June 5th, to deploy the Beta which will be available on the 6th at X time.”

Blizzard is like “BETA ON THE 5TH!!!” and then literally on the 5th, they shut down the alpha, and deploy the beta/patches/hopefully do some testing in the middle of the day on the 5th while customers are waiting for it.

That is WILD.

That is NOT how you do things in the real world. That is like knowing you have a project due in front of a large audience, and starting it the day you give the presentation… and like the whole audience is just sitting there watching you do the work that should have been done ages ago.

This might be a beta, but it’s still a production environment since it will have thousands of users… and they’re treating it like it’s some tiny dev environment. “Yeah Steve, I’ll have that server up for you later today when I have some time.”

It’s one thing when stuff breaks… you can’t do much about that.

This is literally “We are using this as a selling point to get people to waste money on an upcharged version of the game and there will be thousands of people railing the servers as if it were an actual release… and we decided the schedule and have had weeks/months to plan for this.”

The more you think about that the more absolutely wild it is.

Thanks for adding the exact information in 4943 other threads.

I hate the fact that beta-access is simply sold these days, it’s exactly for the people who shouldn’t be in a beta environment.

These are folks who just want to see the content early, not actual testers that will report bugs.

And yeah, it might as well be a full release at this point- beta is gonna be packed full of pre-orderers that already bought it.

I hope they’re ready for what they’ve unleashed.

I mean they should, they did the same thing in Mists, only the price has increased lol.

And yeah, it was just as god awful as you can imagine.

I’ve been in every Beta. Even a couple Alphas. In Alphas, bugs are dealt with pretty consistently. In betas, not so much. I report bugs in betas all the time, but they’re never fixed, then when retail comes out, they’re still there and remain there until a patch a week or even a few months later. I’ve even seen a fix in a beta, only to see the same exact bug or bugs reappear in the retail (Legion big time this happened). Betas these days are more a selling and marketing thing than a final chance to fix things…otherwise they would fix things and they’d stay fixed.

Just to clear things up a little.

The game launcher has 2 beta options for TWW that are both under the ‘In Development’ section.

  1. The one that says Public Test Realm (TWW 11.0) is actually still game version 10.2.6.53989, this is not the one you want to select to play. (This is the pre-patch apparently)
  2. The one that sits at the top of the list that says The War Within Beta is game version 11.0.0.55000, this is the one you want to select to play.

There currently is no realms available as at the time of this post and that is why you are getting disconnected when you log into the game.

You will be able to see a realm list and create/import your characters when the beta servers are actually up. This could be anytime between now and 23:59:59.

If you pre ordered the Collectors Edition of the game, your account will not know that you have done this, so you will either have to wait for your game to come in before you can assign a game code and get beta access, or you will have to refer to this Blue Post. It is suggested that you can buy a digital copy on top of, but you would only be entitled to a credit on the account instead of a refund when your CE version comes in.

Beta is now live.
