Break records or go in the trash seems to be the standard these days. Sadly that means now I have to see that freaking show with the mask people in the building for the cash prize (I forgot the name) again.
i called it SG:BSG, and yeah i did not like it at all, it was SG like in name only, there was no humor that went with it, they tried to make a new BSG in SG’s world and IMO was a failure. Atlantis should have kept on going.
now does anyone remember John Doe? 1 season and ended on a huge cliffhanger and as Fox did back then, just axed it, even tho it had decent ratings, but not great, so had to go…
My number 1 would be Enterprise, one more season and we would have had the Romulan War but instead we got “Computer, end program.”
As for Resident Evil, I lost what interest I had the second they released a photo of the chainsaw guy. I LOVE RE0 - CV, but starting with 4 the plot completely falls apart imo. Imo the ideal RE TV series would be a prequel to RE0 / RE1 showing the development of the T-Virus and various BOWs, with an overall style similar to American Horror Story. Once that story ran it’s course if more seasons were ordered then adaptations of RE 0-CV could get a season or so each (could maybe combine 0 with 1 and 2 with 3 if necessary), followed by either an original story or changes to CVs ending to wrap everything up.
Teenage Bounty Hunters, secret circle, Almost Human, Single Parents, Another Life, Stargate Atlantis, and the criminally underrated Canadian comedy Seed
Fox basically sent Firefly out to die by forcing it to compete with Friends during it’s last season, before slapping it with a Friday night time slot which was the kiss of death.
Enterprise was finally finding it’s footing after dodging studio requirements and other nonsense (the entire third season was a product of the studio demanding it even though a time travel subplot was stupid because we already knew how it ended) only for the plug to get pulled.
I thought I was the only person who liked that. Apparently the reason it got canceled had more to do with just how expensive it was to produce.
Also, Stargate’s spin offs suffered from bad chemistry and writing. A huge part of why SG-1 worked as well as it did was because Richard Dean Anderson, Michael Shanks, Amanda Tapping and Christopher Judge played off each other incredibly well. Which meant that even when dealing with more middling episodes or outright awful ones there was still something to be had out of it.
Resident Evil was another waste of a good ip. It had potential but it was squandered on crappy YA moody angst. I am not sorry it got canned.
Good shows that deserved better?
Firefly comes to mind immediately.
Dresden Files.
Punisher, coulda used more Jon Bernthal going beast on the bad guys. Not sure what mutilated abomination Dis+ is going to vomit up if they decide to reboot. Gunna temper my expectations hard for the new Daredevil, though I am damn happy to have Charlie Cox back as Matt.
