the majority of raiders buy gold, with or without GDKP. The #1 way GDKP’s are funded in vanilla is buying gold with real $. It’s not the last option, it’s the first.

You act as if people go to GDKP that dont know what to expect. People can go to ANY system of loot they want. Well actually no, they cant go to gdkp now because people liked imposing their views on others and deciding how they can and cannot play.
Your argument only stands if people are FORCED to go to a gdkp. Nobody is being forced, and everyone in attendance has done the math. even those who lost to a swiper, they did the math, and decided to go for the pile of gold at the end. And if it wasnt worth, they wont be back!
For a system that is so hated and flawed according to forums and reddit, its a real curiosity of mine how it became the most popular in game.

I’m only making the case that it wouldn’t be a fast way to gear - not yet anyway. That’s a skewed opinion of GDKP from Era that wouldn’t be in the game for a couple phases still on Anniversary. Very few people are sitting on that much legit earned gold and BiS gear yet.

It depends, i said it can be the fastest if you have the right attributes as a person to win bids. Otherwise, look for another type of run.
I dont think anyone can argue that GDKP does not have the potential to be the fastest, and on par with loot counsil when you are the top of the pyramid scheme.
At the end of the day, if you have no marketable skills (making gold, making usd, manipulating people) then just do a FREE ROLL, SR, or DKP. But please dont get scammed by LC.
The purpose of this post was to pair people with a method in which they can play to their strengths and avoid their weaknesses.

Personal loot would be great too… but i doubt we ever get that. I would put it on par with FREE ROLL, which is a great system IMO, and where most people will find the most loot.

and just because you had bad experiences doesn’t mean it’s a bad system. it’s the only true traditional classic system of the bunch. every raid guild was a loot council back in the day.

If you did well in loot council you were either willfully or naively participating in a grift with your friends. Which i argue, is a great way to get loot! congrats on having a marketable skill and not having to farm gold or join random rolls. The ability for persuasion is one of the most underrated skills in life. I also have this skill.

If there are a lot more people in one category, then you could still argue that a given loot system is “the best” because it suits more people.
i.e. if there are 10x more people who “only need 1-3 items”, then SR is objectively the best because it is helping 10x more people.
that would be most popular, not necessarily BEST.
BEST is situational IMO.
A lot of ignorant people will participate in runs which are sub-optimal to their strengths. And complain afterward.
Ignorance is a key driver in misery and this post is an attempt to help people find their place in the world.
