So, I just finished the Ember Court. I have all of the little treasures, the mog, the pets, the achievements, and I just finished my final guest as best friends.
I had a lot of fun doing this event. It was the best part of Shadowlands for me.
What I even really liked more, was that when I first encountered Baroness Vashj in Maldraxxus, she knew who I was. I kinda killed her and sent her here.
But after all of that, clearly she had went to Revendreth first to see the error of her ways, and is now in Maldraxxus, and she hasn’t shown hostility towards me.
What is even more heartwarming is that she really loves the character once reaching Best Friend level. That I really liked. She doesn’t even say “even though you killed me in Outland, I couldn’t love you more than I do” or something like that.
Her Best Friend greeting is “Always in a hurry, my little [name]”. That made me happy.
I am glad to see that the 3 main villains of TBC all had their own versions of redemption.
I must have missed that part.
Edit: now that I think about it, when we first meet her in Maldraxxus doesn’t she basically tell us she went straight there?
It wouldn’t be the first time less… morally-inclined souls skipped Revendreth either.
One of the weekly quests for the Contructs has you go find some books; one of them is in Revendreth and is basically some Venthyr talking about how destructive the Undying Army is and that they all should’ve gone to Revendreth instead of Maldraxxus.
Maybe I missed that. I thought you had to go to Revendreth first if you lived a life that was questionable. Morgraine went directly to Maldraxxus, but outside of being Scouged, he was good.
But then, Vashj was serving Illidan who was misunderstood so I guess Vashj died doing what she thought was right as it was for the greater mission of stopping the Legion.
It was only Kael’thas who went rogue. So I guess she would have went directly there as if Illidan’s actions weren’t considered completely evil, then those under him wouldn’t be considered that either.
She always seemed more reasonable than the other 2 in a way
She was doing what she felt was best for her people, and we did what we thought was best for our people
She lost, but still sees the use of working along side of as we are known to get results
That’s the general standard but I think Maldraxxi get a special exception if they align enough with it (except maybe the very worst offenders).
Doing the Ember Court gives you a little more in that relationship. So while she knows we get stuff done via the other covenants, if you get her to Best Friend level, she truly adores your character.
My favorite thing was starting to play Classic when it was new and finding Varimathras as a dungeon questgiver in the Undercity. And I was like, I hope he doesn’t remember how many times I killed him doing transmog runs.

Maybe the original 5 Malcraxxi houses had certain requirements to be selected for one of them. So like how the Arbiter judged you, in Maldraxxus, you would go to one of the 5 houses based on your former life? I don’t recall how those were chosen for their houses.
